Six-handed euchre was played and handsome prizes were awarded to the winners. The house was decorated with Ameri can beauties except the dining room which was adorned with the finest chrysanthemums. These favorite au tumn flowers formed the center piece on the dining table, the appointments of which were the finest linen, glitter ing cut glass and burnished silver. Mrs. It. C. Chrysanthemums and spallations adorned the house. A "Juncheon was served. The hostesses were assisted by Miss Laura Houtz and Mabel Bennett, who wore blue gowns, and by Miss Mabel Hays, Miss Maud Bennett, and Miss Grace Bennett, who were gowned in pink. McGrew gave a charming Party to a company of little girls Tuesday evening to celebrate the twelfth birthday of her daughter. Alice Carey McGrew. One amusement . fol low ed another rapidly and the time Passed very quickly to the happy quests. Conundrums were guessed, tails were pinned on a donkey minus that appendage and then came the supper. Twelve of the young misses were seated at the large round table, 'he others at a small table. In the centre of the large table was a basket of carnations and ribbons leading from 11 to the plates. After the repast all encircled the table and at a signal the ribbons were drawn and each secured a flower from which, upon touching a Pring, came a fancy paper cap. These ere donned and added to the pictur esqueness of the scene. Instead of the usual birthday cake there was at each P'ate a small cake on which stood a candle and at each plate was also a fancy bon bon holder tilled wlt'i sweets. T. Van Brunt and Mrs. Winger entertained the South East circle of the First Presbyterian church Wednesday afternoon at the home of the former. More than thirty ladies were present. Mrs. M. H. Garten, who has made a careful study of Rudyard Kipling and his works, presented the subject in a very interesting manner which was greatly appreciated by the members of the circle. It is the plan to have some entertainment each month at the circle meetings. Mrs. A. L. Hoover and Mrs. E. C. Babcock will entertain the circle in December. The Z. V. F. club met Tuesday even ing with Miss Grace Mills. Xineteenth and K streets. Miss Mable Tatro was initiated into membership and after the ceremonies a banquet was served.
