J. R. Inkster will entertain thirty friends of Mrs. John Hewitt at a ken sington this afternoon. Mrs. C. G. Crittenden will entertain on Saturday, November 2, for Miss Hoi lowbush. Born, on Monday, October 13, to Mr. and Mrs. Raymond P. Welch of Omaha, a son. Mrs. G. W. Hoobler of Omaha spent Wednesday in Lincoln. Dr. Carr, surgeon. 141 South 12th. Died, in Denver, at the home of her son Harry, October 24th, 1901, Mrs. M. B. Reese, wife of Judge Reese of this city. Mrs. Reese has been an invalid for about a year. She was a high minded, good woman and very dearly beloved in Lincoln where she haB lived for a number of years. ln-the death of Mr. A. Clark Redick Omaha's society and business circles suffer a great loss. With the exception of a few years at the Shattuck Military academy and two years in California, Mr. Redick's life was spent in Omaha, where for several years he has been en gaged in the real estate business with his brother, Mr. Chatham Redick. Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon. Gty Improvement Society. The regular meeting of the City Im provement society was held on Thurs day morning. The encroachments of stands on the business streets was given serious consideration, also the unsani tary condition of the sidewalks owing to expectoration and lack of systematic cleaning. This subject will be brought to the notice to the sidewalks commit tee of the city council. At the corner of Fourteenth and H streets the cross ing is rendered impassable by the waste water from the engine at the State Capital. Individual protests have been without effect, and the matter will now be officially presented to the board. Plans were discussed for the reception to be given on November seventh in Walsh Hall to the city officials and members of the commercial club.
