On Wednesday Mrs. II. J. Winnott
gave a luncheon in honor of Mrs. Chas.
A, Vailo of Baltimore, who is the guest
of her sister, Mrs. H. W. Caldwell. The
luncheon decorations were pink and
green. Guests were: Mesdames Vaile,
Caldwell, Bessey. II. H. Wilson, Ward,
Richards, Stevenson, Barbour, Taylor,
Risser, Burr, Eamee, John Fawell, Ed
gren, Shepherd, Noll, Kimball: Misses
Burr and Risstr.
Wednesday evening al the home of
Mies Poynter, Misses Margaret Grimi
son and Winifred Chadwick were inia
ted into the mysteries and joys of Delta
Delta Delta sorority. Twenty five
members participated in the festivities.
The banquet board was decorated with
a profusion of fiowers which were gifts
from fraternity friends. Boxes of choice
carnations were also tributary offerings.
The Woman's club of Milford was en
tertained at luncheon Saturday after
noon at the home of Miss Eva Stump.
Miss Stump was assisted by Mrs. J. H.
Borden and Mrs. Will Runnells. At
the close of the club meeting long pieces
of colored tissue paper were distributed
among the guests with which Easter
bonnets were to be made and worn dur
ing the remainder of the afternoon.
Mrs. O. L. Howard sung, and Miss
Grace Rowe recited. The luncheon was
served on small tables. The club colors,
white and gold, were represented by
white carnations and yellow ribbons.
A literary entertainment will be given
by the club in the course of a few weeks,
and it was voted to purchase two large
pictures for the schools.
A company of university students
danced at L. L. I. hall Friday evening.
They were: Misses Dot Druse, Wood
ruff, Minnie Guile, Mabel Guile, An
thony, Gregory, Hess, Hull. Welle, Led
with, Saultz, Cameron, Stratton, Hart
sough, Kocken, White, Stirling, Roper,
Roper, Daly, Ashley, Chappell, Hensel,
Reeves; Messrs. Edward Hanlon, Brack

Childs, Barry, Roper, Peters, Jouvenat,
Langer, Morris, Hewitt.
Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Munson gave a
six handed euchre party Saturday eve
Ling in honor of Miss Hansen of Grand
Island. Prizes were awarded to Mr.
Caldwell and Mies Miller and to Mr.
Underwood for shouting. Messrs. and
Mesdames C. J. Guenzel, C. G. Under
wood, Oscar Junge, F. B. Harris, S. C.
Hoover, E. Bignell, Burt Richards:
'Misses Hansen, Miller of Aurora, Hie.,
and Mr. F.B.Caldwell, were the players.
The local chapter of the A. C. A. will
meet with Mrs. Hardy, 1536 D street on
March thirtieth, to listen to an address
by Doctor Edgren on the Evolution of
Universities.
The officers of the cadet battallion
gave their annual ball Thursday night
at Walsh hall, and it proved to be one
of the pleasantest affairs of the year in
University circles. The officers are:
Commandant A. L. Baum, Lieutenant
Drain; Company A. Captain U. L. Tu-
key, Lieutenants Emmett and Stuhr;
Company B, Captain Kind, Lieuten
ants Hull and Shane; Company C, Cap
tain Langer, Lieutenants McGechin and
McMaster; Company D, Captain Barnes,
Lieutenants Hewitt and Barry.
The Lotos club met on Thursday with,
Mrs. Rhodes. Miss Harris read a very
interesting account of house keeping in
Manila, written by Mrs. James L. Tuber,
who spent last year there.
The Round Table met Monday eve
ning with Mr. John E. Miller. "Are
the Filipinos Rebels?" was discussed by
Mr. J. H. Harley. Mr. Shepherd and
Professor Lees were guests. The next
meeting will Le held at Mr. Lambert
son's. Andrew H. Thomas, son of L. M.
Thomas of 1GA1 P street, has just re
turned from the Filipine islands. Mr.
Thomas enlisted in the Fifty-first Iowa,
company A, and on the return of the
regiment from Iowa, ho enlisted as cor
poral in troop B, Eleventh cavalry, and
served eighteen mouths. He returned
to San Francisco on the transport Mead,
March 1.
The benefit for Miss Lora Holmes will
be given on the ninth of April. Miss
Holmes has a glorious voice which
thrills every one who hears her sing.
Her many friends in Lincoln welcome
the opportunity to help her attain suc
cess in a career for which she has such
great talent.
Saturday Delta Upsilon received these
new members: Messrs. Ed Walton, Ray
Hummel, Harry Benedict, J. Kanzler,
Charles Luesier, John Wilson. A ban
quet at the chapter houso followed the
initiation.
Clarence E. Wright, a former student
of the state university, was married to
Miss Flora Eivira at Gibbon, Nebraska,
a few days ago. Mr. Wright left tho
university when he Joined the First Nebraska.

Mr. and Mrs. C. II. Morriil and Miss
Morrill are in the City of Mexico, where
they will remain for a month.
Mr. W. J. Bryan celebrated his birth
day by a dinner to intimate friends on
Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Hitchcock, Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Ransom of Omaha and
the Misses Crounse attended the legis
lature on Monday.
W. Fairfield, the winner in the Nebraska-Minnesota
story-writing contest,
returned from Minneapolis on Monday.
Mrs. R.T. Van Brunt is-the guest at
Beatrice of Mrs. Winslow Van Brunt.
Miss Hortense Clark of Omaha, who
attended the Delta Gamma birthday
party, was the guest of Miss Irene
Hamilton.
Mr. and Mrs. Kellner and the Misses
Kellner gave a euchre party Friday eve
ning. Miss Franck, Miss Friend, Mr.
II. Mayer, M. Rosebaum won prizes.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd entertained tho
Four Fours last evening at their ' home,
1630 O street.
