music study department of the club has
steadily grown in proportion as the work
of the club has met the needs of the
great body of club women who are in
terested in music but who have not the
time to devote to it a technical study.
The next meeting will be on December
21st, at 3:30 o'clock in the club rooms.

Mrs.W. F. Kelley on Friday. Mrs.
Ladd talked about "Byzantine Architecture."
The next program of the Lincoln Wo
man's club will be upon the subject of
libraries. All through the state, a li
brary day will be observed sometime
during the next several week3. The
program for Monday, December 17th,

Mrs. Eli Plummer, leader of the Par
liamentary department of the Lincoln
Woman's club, prepared a clever pro
gram for the open meeting of the club
on laet Monday. The afternoon opened
with a preliminary business meeting,
with Mrs. Bushnell in the chair. Mrs.
Plummbrthen look charge, piesiding
over the "First Biennial of tbeTJational
Busy Bodies." Mrs. Herron as mayor
ess of the city, welcomed the visitors,
dwelling particularly on a drive, planned
by her townsmen, in which each car
riage was provided with one man in or
der to prevent fright or accident. Mrs.
Jones of Ohio (Mrs. A. W. Fieid) ex
pressed the thanks of the biennial for
the hospitality of the city, but said that
the arrangement of one woman and three
men to each carriage would have been
preferable to the convention. A gor
geous bouquet of red paper flowers, with
long red satin streamers from the Ne
brask Federation, was placed upon the
rostrum with proper pomp for the oc
casion. Miss Archibald played a theme
and variations by Henry P. Eames.
Mrs. Bushnell and Mrs, Ricketts then
conducted a spirited discussion on Re
organization. The question of whether
a luncheon or breakfast should be given
was carried on in a parliamentary fash
ion with laughable ruliugB. The con
vention adjourned for a drive on Salt
Creek Boulevard.

that they have associated themselves together
for the purpose of forming the following incor

1. The name of said corporation is the "City

2. The principal place of transacting the busi
ness of this corporation is at the city of Lincoln,

3. The general nature of the business to be
transacted by this corporation is to purchase,
own, repair, maintain, insure, rent, lease, mort
gage, sell, ana convey real estate, nxiures anu
appurtenance, in the city of Lincoln, Nebraska.
4. The amount of canital stock authorized in
this corporation is J36.000, divided into 360

before the date of Issuance of certificates there
for, either in real estate, money, or fixtures, or

Nebraska, at such reasonable valuation as shall
be put thereon by the board of directors of this
company, but the incorporation shall be deemed
complete upon the subscription of three shares.
5. The time of commencement of this corpora
tion is the date of the filing of these articles
with the county clerk of Lancaster county, Ne
braska, and the date of its termination is at the
expiration of twenty-live years from said last
named date.
6. The highest amount of Indebtedness or lia
bility to which this corporation may at any time
subject itself is two-thirds of its capital stock,
which may be secured in whole or in part by
a mortgage or mortgages upon real estate
owned by it.
7. The affairs of this corporation shall be con
ducted by a board of three directors, who shall
choose a president from among their own num
ber, and who shall also elect a secretary and
treasurer but the last named offices may be
held by the same person. The board shall also
appoint or provide for the appointment of such
subordinate officers as it may see lit.

At the meeting of the music study de
partment of the Woman's club held on
Friday of last week, an unusually large
number of dub members were present
to listen to the program which bore on
the topic of grand opera in which all the
members were interested. Mrs. Henry
p. Eames, leader of the department, at
whose house the meeting was held, took
charge of the program. Her discussion
related to the Italian operatic school
ending in a review of Donizetti's work.
Mrs. Archibald Scott rehearsed the
plotof "Xucta" and then Mrs. Eames
reviewed the music of the opera, Miss
Nellie Griggs playing the main themes.
A short sketch of Gounod's life was giv
en followed by supplemental remarks
