How to Wash the Baby.
As a rule babies should be waBhed by
hand. Machine-washed babies do not
mature so rapidly, and being rubbed on
a washboard is likely 10 wear holes in
the baby.
The baby should be put to soak over
night in luke-warm water in which has
been dissolved a handful of pearline.
This takes the place of the old-fashioned
way of leaving him in a wash-boiler on
the stove for three or four hours, and
epves much labor.
In the morning, after rinsing in three
waters, add a little ball blue to the la&t
and pass the baby quickly through it.
Too much bluiDg is apt to give the
baby a faded look.
We do not think that babies should
be put through the wringer too soon
after washing. Better results are ob
tained by banging them on the line at
once, if it bb a sunny day. Otherwise
they may be hung up before the kitchen
fire, and, when thoroughly dry, starched
and ironed at your convenience.
Type-Writers and Their Employers.
Many a young girl who has entered on
her career as a type-writer has, through
ignorance, made mistakes which, if
warned in time, she would have avoided.
Type-writers should invariably bo
kind to their employers. It must be
remembered that they are men after all,
and that btx occasional kind word will do
much to lighten the cares of a busy day.
You will add brightness to your sur
roundings if every day on your way to
the office, you stop at the florist's and
get a dozen or two American Beauties
or a couple of bunches or vioi.ts to
place on your desk. At the close of the
day you can put a flower in your em
ployer's buttonhole. This is a little at
tention which his wife is bound to ap
preciate. Always hum a tune when at your
work. Type-writing to rag-time accom
paniment is apt to bore your employer.
If he is in the habit of sweariug at
your mistakes, do not rebuke him be
fore the office-boys as it might hurt his
feelings.
Fiod out when his birthdays occur
and mark the event by giving him a
bottle cf champagne or a box of cigars.
An employer always appreciates
thoughtfulness on the part of his type
writer. Do no wear a decollete gown in the
office. You might catch cold, and your
coughing would annoy your employer.

mind, dear girls, jou will not only be
euccessful in your business, but much
