Mrs Woodford spoke of "Op portunity" and admonished us to mate and not wait for opportunities. Mrs. Girardet spoke of the home, com panions and literature as three impor tant influences in the formation of char acter. Mrs. Geer suggested some papers and magazines that are most helpful to all members of the family. Mrs. Ash mun delivered a little sermon on the needs of the young and the desirability of laws which will keep them in school nine months in the year, and suggested occupations for the long vacations, thus leaving no idle hands for Satan to em ploy. Mrs. Gates briefly reviewed "The Grandissimes." Mrs. Hay's compari The Friends in Council club of Te cumseh has issued the year book for the season of 1900 and 1001. It is a neat and comprehensive little book in pink and white, the club colors. The officers for next year are: President, Mrs. Elizabeth Chamberlain; vice presi dent, Mrs. Shaw; secretary, Mrs. Stew art; corresponding secretary, Mrs. Tracy; treasurer, Mrs. Seaver. Pro gram committee, Mesdames Edith Chamberlain, Lora Howorth and Clara FitzsimmonB. Music committee, Mes dames Willa Shaw and Helen Seaver. The object of the club is to consider the conduct of life in all its relations to women, endeavoring to answer the ques tion, "How to Live." Membership is unlimited. The dues are ten cents a month collected quarterly. This last clauRb suggests the onerous duties of the secretary who must collect from each member 30 cents four times a year. Too many clubs disregard and make heavier than necessary the bur den of the treasurer.
