Each guest had an auimal to draw upon the blackboard while the others guessed from the illustra tion itd name, and as the image in one's mind and the image upon the board were often two very different affairs there was much speculation and amuBO ment over the titles of the various illus trations. It is a pleasure to Mrs. Dawes' friends to have her here once again and after the game and while various plats in which Mrs. Ogden is so skilled were served, therd was conversa tion of days .not so very long gone bye. Miss Mickey entertained the Xeno dochy club and their friends on Tues day evening. A variety of games kept the minds of the Xenodochians keen and alert and the hour for departure came much too soon. One of the amus ments of the evening was an auction, each one being given a certain number of beans with which he could purchase any of the rallied articles for which he chose to bid high enough. The bidders had only the exterior of the parcel to judge from as only possession revealed the contents, which were always some thing amusing. The P. E. O. will give a musical on Friday, May the eleventh, at the home of Mrs. James Stulwart. Mrs. Huntington entertained a few friends on Monday evening. Mrs. Erwin of Omaha, is visiting her son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ed ward Erwin, for a few weeks. Mrs. Klinker entertained in honor of her husband's birthday on Saturday evening at four handed euchre. The affair was a great surprise to Mr. Klinker and hence an added pleasure. The atmosphere of the house was sweet and gardenlike for there were apple blossoms, pink carnations and roses in abundance. Maule, formerly a resident of Lincoln, who has had a short story accepted by Scribner, is doing work for a New York syndicate and expects to have a book before the public shortly. Miss May Follmer gave a reading which added much to the after noon's pleasure. There was a club dancing party In the Dancing Academy on Tuesday eve ning. There were a number of people in attendance. Mrs. Van Brunt entertained the mem here of the L. A. kensington, their hus bands and a few friends on Friday, April the twenty seventh, at four hand ed euchre. This was the last meeting of its kind and hence the guests entered particularly into the spirit of it. Mrs. Billmeyer won a beautiful potted rose for the evening's conquest and Mr. W. J. Turner and Mr. Alva Kennard cut for the gentleman's prize. Mrs. Van Brunt has been president of the club some four or five years, and at the last afternoon meeting they made her president for all time to come, and on this evening Mrs. Patrick came, in order to present to Mrs. Van Brunt for the club, a cut glass berry bowl, as expression of its appreciation of Mrs. Van Brunt's many kindnesses to the members. Those present besides the club members and their husbands were: Messrs. and Mes damea Fawell, Aitken, George Clark and Turner. Mr. Hamblin, assistant general freight agent of the Burlington road, and Mrs. Hamblin, spent Monday and Tuesday in Lincoln meeting old acquaintances and friends of eighteen years ago when they lived here. Doctor J. V. Beghtol, Mr. J. D. Pope, and Mr. Frank Jones of Friend, were in the city the first of the week, and enjoyed "Sapho." Governor and Mrs. Poynter gave a twelve o'clock luncheon on Tuesday to the official members of the Governor's staff who came to Lincoln for the May celebration. Miss Zella Metcalf of Lexington, Ill inois, arrived in Lincolc this morning. She will be the guest this summer of her aunt, Mrs. Walter J. Lamb. Judge and Mrs. Reese gave a dinner on Thursday.
