The New Year's reception held by the Browning Club was very successful. The house was prettily decoratd in holiday greens, while carnation, the club flower, was every where in evidence The invited guests included the same list as those of previous years, and many responded to the invitations. Ices were served duting the entire afternoon. The Ciceronians elected officers Fri day evening. They have received chal lenges from several of the different high schools in the state. The Browning Club will hoid an open meeting on Friday, January Twelfth. A special program has been prepared. The Crokinole Club will meet with Misses Lid and Clella Williams on Monday eening. Dr. Stein conducted chapel on Tues day morning on account of the absence of the principal. Dr. Davenport returned from his trip to South Dakota on Tuesday morning. M is6 Kirker was unable to meet her classes this week on account of illness. Mr. Weldon Warren, the editor of tho Advocate spent his vacation in Nebras ka City. Mr. Maurice A. Benedict gave a skat ing party on Wednesday evening. A number of senior girls were invited. The party was chaperoned by Mr. Bene dict's mother, Mrs. A. M. Benedict. Danny's father, who is a farmer and ctock-gnwer, took several car loads of hogs, reared on his own farm, to Chicago, where he sold tltem to the great pork-packing firm of Armour & Co. While in Chicago Danny's father received the following letter from the little boy: "Dere papa: Did you see Mr. Armour kill the big fat hog with the black tale and didn't he think it was a buster?
