Tho dacco par excellence of tho sea
son in university socioty was given
Tuesday evening at tho Lincoln hotel
by tho members of Pi Boii Phi sorority.
Tho decorations woro very elaborate
and mado a boautiful background for
tho jouth and boauty thero pie-ent.
Scarlet and cream, tho university colors,
predominated. Tho grand court was
foBtooned with bands of I ho colors
and tho pillars wero bidden in many
folds of bunting. A larco heart was
suapendod ove- tb.9 court. Tho lumps
wore hidden in ruffs, carrying out tho
same color scheme, white groat palms
placed at the sides of the court added a
further charm. Tho b.ll room had
decorations of flags and tho musicians'
stand was draped with the Eorority
cjlors. Tho room where ices wero
sorved was especially beautiful. Ropes
of smilax hung from tho chandelier to
the four corners of a tablo beneath.
Cut flowers wero ued with fine effoct
hero. Mrs. Summers, assisted by Misbcb
Florence McGahey, Ada Waugh, and
Maude Dutton served tho ices Tho re
ceiving lino consisted of MIbfob Lulu
Wirt, Anna Stuart and Lulu West and
tho new girls introduced wero Miescb
Vera Wattles, Sue Ashmun, Margaret
Custer and Kathorino Thomas. Tho
muBic was furnished by Ed Walt'B or
chestra. Mr. Arthur Bisjhof was mas
ter of ceremonies. The programs wero
dainty hard painted Bouvonirs dono by

toasts called forth by the touBt mistress,
Mrs. Price. Mrs. Caldins responded to
"Tho North Sida Circle;" "Our Wives,"
was tho toast assigned to Dr. Wharton,
and Mrs. Leighton talked of "Our Hub
bands;" Mr. Dobbins toasted "Our Pres
ent Legislature," and it was original and
full of wit. Mtb. Colburn gave an es
say on "Tho Women of Henry James;''
Dr. Paino lesponded to the toast "Tho
Now Woman." Miss Hamilton brought
tho program to a close with a Scotch
ballad. Tbo guosts then adjourned to
tho upper rooms whoio Mrs. Harpham
gavo several piano selections and Miss
Hamilton recited. Tho company then
indulged in patriotic songs before good
