An ordinary garden hose which is innocently coiled up in the beginning of the act, provokes roars of laughter before the curtain falls, and a trained rat also comnB in for its share of applause. ThiB act is set to represent a carrisgo house and shows both the ground floor and the loft, the latter being practical and occupies tho full width of the stage. It was quite a feat in stage engineering to make this loft solid, for there is a clear span of thirty feet, but it was finally accomplish ed and Ave people can run about the flooring without the slightest danger. The company which presents "Mistakes Will Happen" is ono of the strongest comedy companies that hps ever been got together. It includes Charles Dick son, Henrietta Crosman, Chas. Blanche Walsh and Melbourne Mac Dowel, supported by the Melbourne MacDowell company, will be seen at the Oliver for two nights and a Wednesday matinee beginning Tuesday, February 7th, iu a revival of Fanny Davenport's great production of "La Tosca" and "Fedora." This may be looked upon bb rather an important event in theatrical circles, and it is fair to presume that the sale of seats will go at a lively rate. In Sardou's play, "La Tosca," all dramatic power is brought into action, and the result is one of the most enjoyable pre sentations the stage has ever seen. "Fe dora" is a most elaborate work, with strange physical and theatrical interest, crowded with varied ' and magnificent movement, and is a perfect example of continuous dramatic suspense. MIsb Davenport's fertile researches and lavish scenic embellishments gave her stand ing aa a manager. Neither money nor pains have been spared to present the plays in good style. Sardou has always rilled his plays with fine points, and not too fine to be lost on anybody, even in the gallery. Sale of seats and boxes be gins Saturday, February 4th.
