The Sunday School class of St. Luke's
church enjoyed an elaborate Christmas
entertainment at the rooms of the rec
tor, Kev.R. N. Turner, on South Tenth
street, Thursday evening. The little
girls were presanted with handsome
little dolls and the boys received toy
garni. Mrs. Nellie Smith, the organist
of the church, was the recipient of a
new crisp 85 note as a Christmas girt
from the Ladies' Guild of the church.
Mrs. Adele Clarke, who eo admirably
portrays the role of the maiden aunt in
"What Happened to Jones" is the moth
er of the brilliant young star, Harry
Corson Clarke. It is not often that
mother and eon can appear in the same
play and it is a most delightful feature
of the tour for both.
Mr. and Mrs. Mark Tilton opened
tteirhome to a few friends Tuesday
evening and all enjoed cards. Four
tables were at play.
Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Rudge have desert
ed Nebraska fcr a time and are on a
week's visit with relatives in Illinois
and Ohio.
Professor Belden of the State uni
yersity of Miseouri was in the city this
week. Professor Belden formerly held
a position in the Nebraska university as
English instructor.
It is estimated that "What Happened
to Jones" has been played to more than
one million of people-a remarkable re
cord. This successful farce has been
running since last July, to crowded
houses at the Strand Theatre in London,
England.

Wednesday evening the Chafing Dish
olub spent the evening with Miss Henri
etta Hollowbush. Besides the divinities
who presided over the spirit lamps there
were present enough gentlemen to dis
pense the fruit of the copper pans.
Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Hargreaves enter
tained a few friends Friday night. Mrs.
Walter Hargreaves will entertain to
night. The home of Mrs. J. A. Buckstaff will
be thrown cpen Saturday night to the
Cotillion club which will give a party.
Outside of the club there will be a few
invited guests.
Miss Helen WTcods entertained a few
friends informally Friday night at her
home.
II. H. Sbdd of Ashland, was in the
city this week visiting his two sons Har
ry and George and attending the sessions
of the association.
Mr. Bert Miner was called to San
Francisco on Friday by a telegram from
Mrs. Phillips announcing the illness of
Captain Phillips.
