Gruetter, formerly of this city, and Emma M. Keichert. They are at home at 1426 Newport avenue, Chicago. Miss Gertrude, Marsland gave a din ner at six o'clock on Saturday even ing in honor of her friend, Miss May Lewis of Jloston. tine decorations were tasteful and dainty and the din ner delicious. The guests were Misses Lewis, 'McLaughlin, Loomis, Getner, Deweese, Clarke, Kicketts. Miss Blossom Williamson gave an enjoyable party on- Friday evening for her cousin, Mr. Head of Ohio. Her guests were Misses Dora and Edna Harley, Clara Hammond, Adelloyd Whiting, Mabel JUchards, Ada lleaton, Messrs. Edmisten, Edgar and Arthur Morrill, Bartlett, Holben, Gregory, Ewart, Holben, Fitzgerald, Sawyer. Mrs. J. H. (Sere gave a party on Fri daj evening in honor of Mr. ant. Mrs. Withers of Hebron, and Miss Serfass of Freeporr, 111. They rode out in a hay rack to the Beach, then enjoyed a few hours of sailing by moonlight. The party consisted of Misses Owen, Baumgardner, Serfass, Beckman, Tut tle, Seybolt, Messrs! Dunlap, Cham bers, Beckman, Elliott, Bennett, tfuck staff, Albin, Hunger. Married, July 27, at Denver, Cyrus W. FisherdiCk, formerly of this city, and Cora Belle King, also of Lincoln. Mr. Fisherdick was formerly engaged in the law practice here with the lirra of Webster, Kose and Fisherdick, and has located in Co'orado. His bride is well known in Lincoln, having been employed in the land commissioner's office here. Mrs. Guenzell gave a porch party on Friday evening for her sisters, the Misses Usher of Brooklyn, A'. V. The porch and lawn were prettily deco rated. Cards and dancing helped to pass the time agreea- y. The gues's were Misses Dalby, Parks, Leese, How land, Trigg, Erford, .Messrs. Starbe, Wilson, Harney, Painter, Smith, Wood ward, Mudge, Patterson. Cards have been received in this city announcing the marriage of William M. Johnston of Billings, 'Mont., to Miss Mabel G. Sleeper of Billings. Mr. John ston is well known in i -s city, hav ing attended the state- university, graduating 1894, later graduating from the law school. He left Lincoln for Billings immediately after, start ing in the law practice and since that time has served as county attorney at that, place. Air. Johnston's home in Nebraska was at Humboldt. His marriage occurred July 27. ' Mrs. and Mesdames Hardy, Clark and Joneaand Misses Ellen and Frances Gnr a returned on Tuesday from an outing of three weeks spent in cottage on the shores of Green lake, Wk. Mr. F. H. Blieh, who was a member of the party, reached home Saturday. Miss Harriett Cooke entertained infor mally last Tuesday evening for Miss Mabel Cook of Council Bluff. Inter esting subjects for conversation were found by matching the sketches on cut cards and later much merriment was roused by the naming by Dach percon of some prominent man of the day whose name was pinned on the victim's back. After music, light refreshments were served. The evening passed quickly and the following gathered up their furs and overcoats at a late hour. Misses Whiting, Adelloyd Whiting, Beach. Du Teil, Cook of Council Bluffs, Olive Stratton, Laura Stratton, Cooke. Messrs Barber, Hedge, Haecker, Strat ton, Stein, Campbell, Perrin and Cooke. On Friday afternoon Mrs. Charles M. Reefer gave a military party for Misses Mabel Lange and Mattie Anderson of St. Louib. Each guest had pinned on her back the came of some hero of the present war, and had to guess from the conversation and the remarks addressed to them whom they represented. Mrs. Keefer was asiiBted by her sister, Miss Grace Ash ton and Mrs. H. T. Folsom. Mies Grace Bennett presided at the punch bowl. The guests were Mesdames Mesdames Bennett, Folsom, Ansley, tf. B. Evans. Ayers," E. P. Keefer, Lee. Misses Anderson, Lyon, F. Prescott, Ada Waugh, Adelloyd Whiting, Tuuifeon, Millar, Keefer, Mitchell. John Lottridge, Hermance, Meeds, Miesee Lange, Maule, Ash ton, M. Prescott, Whiting, Rymal Hoyt, Graham, Lyda Millar, A right merry company met on Wed nesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mayer. A carry-all and tally-ho were waiting there, and soon the huge baskets which had been brought had been packed in and the party star.ed on the beautiful drive to Ensign's farm. Here the bounteous supperwas served and later there was dancing. Then last, but not least, of all came the drive home by moonlight. Those who enjoyed the pleasant evening were Messrs and Mesdames Newmark, Speier, Weil, Mayer, Langdorf of St. Louis.
