Lent has been welcomed with a si h
of relief by both the entertaineis and
the entertained of society. The quiet
ness of this week is all the more marked
after the constant glow of last week. No
doubt more than one is glad to settle
down to amuse himself as he will.
It is a pleasure to enjoy a quiet hand at
whist or a novel, and to feel refreshed
enough to delight in a short, brisk walk,
without feeling the effects of a fatiguing
night of dancing. There have been few
of even the more quiet forms of amuse
ment. The new" jycle skating rink is the
centre of attraction. Almost every after
noon parties of young ladies are there
Several parties have been given and
many are planned; Bome by individuals,
others b clubs or fraternities. It is not
often that the best people of any city
can enjoy such sport without fear of an
noyance, but this management is deter
mined to keep it so. There have been
only two or three kensingtons. The Phi
Delta Tbeta fraternity will give the
second of a series of chafing-dish parties
this evening. Aside from these the
functions of the winter season are at an
end

land trip through Idaho, Montana and

ternity enjoyed an informal afternoon
with Miss Bessie Turner last Saturday.

Mrs. D. D. Muir left on Thursday
for New York city, where she will spend
a month with Mrs. W. H. Brevoort.
The latter was a former resident of Lin
coln and has many friends here. Mr.
Brevoort is in Europe.
Mrs. Katherine Wads worth, who
sings at the Philharmonic concert Mon
day evening, is the guest of Mrs. P. W.
Plank. Mrs. Wadsworth formerly lived
in Lincoln and has many admiring
friends here who will be glad to wel
come her again

an enjoyable meeting Tuesday asternoon
