great success. We append a few press
notices:
Chicago World: But the daintiest
dish, after all, must be credited tr Mrs.
Wadsirorth, whose aria "Reguava nel
Silenzio,' from Lucia, created the most
raptuous applause. -
New York Herald: Mrs. Wadsworth,
a young soprano, sang very successfully.
Her voice is exceedingly pretty and sym
pathetic, and she sings with good taste,
ber method being good. She well de
served the applause which greeted ber
performance of "Ernani wvolami." For
an encore Mrs. Wadsworth sacg Novice'
"Good Night, Beloved," very charmingly.

BELLE ARMSTRONG, WITH CALHOUN
OPERA COMPANY.
There iB one player to whom public
allegiance remains steadfast. That man
k Edward Harrigan. He was many
years in advance of the "realistic1
school of playwrights. Mr. Harrigan's
first dramatic work was "Old Lavender."
The story is simply told but vividly
brought out, and is lifelike in the ex
treme. It dealswith the life history of
a man falsely accused of a crime and
his gradual decline from a position of
trust and honor to one of the city's odd
characters along the riverfront.
"Old Lavender" will be the attraction
at the Oliver theatre Friday evening,
March 11. Prices, 81, 75, 50 and 25c.

Tuesday evening, March 8, surpasses
Monte Cristo in intensity of action and
in subtlety of plot. There are no chasms
of sequence that must be bridged by tbe
imagination. It steps immediately
upon a high level of interest and keeps
that level up to the emotional climax
which is the submerging of tbe expiring
bodies of the principal characters in the
waters of tbe Bay of Naples in thunder
of an earthquake and the weird light of
an eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. It is a
tale of the de d, founded upon the
Judas' like duplicity of a woman.
