THE COURIER, vW .- , - . ?"-.. - Master Sydney Schleeinger cele brated bis eighth birthday on Tuesday afternoon. He received many little tokens of remem , brance from his friends. His guests were: Melvin Scblesinger, Albert Spier, Leon Rosenbauai, Miriam Ksen sky, Babette Weil, Victor Friend, Henry Weasel, Helen Mitchell, Grace Bryan, May Turner, Ireno Kirchetoin, Helen Levy, Alfred Mayer, Edna Mayer, Elsie Ackerman, Nellie Newmark, Jack Man ning, Winfleld Artor, Polly Berkson, Ruth Kroner, Pay Ilerzog. About this time of the season every year, people are tired of the winter amusements of dancing and cards. About thiB time housekeepers are puz zled to know what to provide for appe tites which are tired of the vegetables and meats of a winter menu. The now cycle skating has come in to till just tht right place between summer out-door life am winter's sheltered amusaments. The hall is a large, square one in the Halter block on Thirteenth street, well lighted and ventilated. Every afternoon and evening it is open and tilled with well known ladies and gentlemen. On Saturday afternoon Mr. Turpin's dancing class at Worthing ton acidemy gave a delightful dancing party. The music was furnished by Miss Willoughby. The gueBts were Mr. and Mrs. Ralston, Rodgers, Lieutenant and Mrs. Townlej, Wier, Major Bean, Lieut. Caofield; Misses Alice Rodgers, Ruth Owen. Hunt, Claire Funke, Toxie Townley, Paulino Meyers, Jessie Out calt, Byrd McConnitl, Duke, Weesner, Lottridgeand Spurck; Captain Kendall, Lieut. Ellis, Sargeants Layton and Tay lor, Bugler Baker, Corporals Hepburn, Lyman, Hartman, Mayer, Privates Bar ber, Baird, Carter, Cattle, Cole, Dris koll, Holdberg, Holden, Kodgere, Katz, Rothschild, Okie, Shepherd, Waring, Phelps, Raymond; Messrs. Wells and Liebman. This week has been a very popular onoforthe little peopk. There were a number of parties given on Washing ton's birthday. That day bapppned, too, to be the birthday of Master Robertson Harley, and his little friends wore in vited to help him celebrate. Tea waB served at four o'clock, and in the centre of the table was a large cake covered with candles. There were live for Rob ertson and one for eacn guest. The guests were: Sarah Ladd, Margaret States, Donnie Cameron, Ada Cameron, Robert Mayer, Richard Mayer, Jean McGahey, Malthe.vMcGahey Lenore Richards, Carol White, Bruce Ogden, Alfred Mayer, Willie Hohman, Jeanette Mayer, Ray Crancer, Walter McArthur, Jeannette Finney, Wilbur Baker, Dorothy Baker, Howard Wilson, Robert inkstcr, Katrina Jacques, Katheryn Beeson. Mr. and Mrs. Crancer and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Curtice gave one of the most enjoyable parties of the season last Sat urday evening at Thompson hall. The guests were invited to come represent ing some character in Mother Goose. Some of the costumes were beautiful, some funny, but all amusing. Mr. and Mrs. Curtice represented "Jack and Jill," Mr. Crancer was "Fee Wee," the sailor, Mrs. Crancer was "The Old Wo man in the Shoe," Mrs. Dorgan "Mother Goose," Mr. Dorgan "Boy Blue." Mr. Wing "Simple Simon," Miss Hammond "Marjorie Daw." Miss Latta "Queen of Spades," Miss Farwell "Miss Muffet," Mr. Merrill "Old King Cole," Mr. Hon eywell "Pat a-Cako, Baker Man," Mrs. Spencer "Bo-Peep." Miss Harwood "Little Bo Peep," Miss Miner "Mary Had a Little Lamb,'" Mr. Lew Marshall "Tom, the Piper's Son." Many others were also in costume. Miss Willoughby furnished the music, and until ten o'clock only those who .were masked danced. Afterwards other guest wont on the floor. The refreshments were served during the entire evening in tho banquet hall. Among tho guests were: Messrs. and Messrs. and Mesdames Mesdames E.E. Woods, A. D. Burr, Mrs. Robinson. Van Dusen, Mr. R. II. Oakley, Misses Misses Griffith, Burr, Stoddard, Harrison, Hooper, Leland, Slaughter, McConnitl; Messis. Messrs. Walsh, Lottridge, Chapman, Morrison, Baldwin, Lansing, Garoutte, Cooley, Duff andHebbardof Nebraska City. Mrs. Holm and Mrs. Teeters received a large number of their friends last Sat urday afternoon. Tho hostesses wero assisted in receiving by Mrs. Smith, mother of Mrs. Holm, and Mrs. P. V. Plank. Mrs. llo'.ux wore a beautiful gown of black satin and turquoise vel vet, Mrs. Smith black eilk with lace, and Mrs. Plank looked charming in a dainty cown of pink organdie. All of the lights were shaded with pink which gave a becoming glow. The flowers were pink carnations. The dining table was beauti ful in its coverings of pink with pink candelabra. Sherliert and tea with wafers were served by Mrs. B. F. Bailey and Mrs. D. . Campbell, who were in pink. They were assisted in serving by Mrs. Fling and Misses Kirker, Mil ler, Hartley and Odel I. Mrs. Mallalieu, in her white satin wedding gown pre sided at the flower tablo and wa3 assist ed by Miss Nelia Cochran. Mesdames Winger, Welch, Garten, Stevonr, Wade and Miss Stoddard also assited in enter taining tho guests. Miss Maude Risser gave a heart party last Saturday afternoon fur about sixty guests. After about sixteen games Miss Frances Gere and Mrs. Rudge were found to be tie. Mrs. Rudge won the cut. Elaborate refreshments were ser red. The guests were: Miss Neil of Columbus. Ohio, Miss Walsh of Port Huron, Mich. Helen Welch, Katherine Odell, Clara Hammond, Lottie Whedon, Florence Winger, Jessie Leland, Frances Rector, Florence Farwell, Olive Latta, Blanche Hargreaves Miss Margaret Hallett entertained the members of the Once a-Week KodJ sington club and their husband's with a few other guests on Tuesday.
