Gere gave a one o'clock luncheon on Saturday for the Lotos club and the intimate friends of Mrs. McConnell. Mrs. John Dorgan expects the Misses Farnsworth from Council Bluffs to ar rive on Monday. They will attend the Pleasant Hour party on the 22nd. Messrs. Hammond, Aitkin, Harley, Helwig, Webster, Greene, Cornell, Ma ret, Smith and Abbott have gone to Des Moines to attend the whist tournament. MissMariel Gere, while performing an experiment in the chemical laboratory of the university, was burnt quite se verely, but not dangerously, by the flar- iog up of some alcohol. Mia3 Gere's hands were burned, but it is hoped there will be no scars. The L. A. G. F. Kensington club was entertained on Thursday afternoon by Mrs. F. E. Campbell. The only guest of the club was Mrs. Granger. The members present were: MesdamesVan Brunt, Scott, Davis, Wilkinson- Arm strong, Pitcher, Patrick, W. J. Turner, Far well, Humphrey, P.eston, Chapin, Gorhardt, Jones. Mrs. F. E. Campbell and Mrs. S. D. Hyde gave the first of a series of ken singtons on Friday afternoon. The af ternoon was spent over dainty bits of fancy work and later over a delicious luncheon . Their guests were Mesdames Welch, Bartruff, C. E. Griffith, L. C. Richards, McCreery, Winger, Webster, Babcock, Loomis, Kirker, Wade, Man ley, Lyman, Garten, Saylor, Hindman, Miller, Zehrung. Mr. H. H. Wilson entertained the court officials at dinner on Wednesday evening. His guests were: Judge Har rison and Commissioner Irvine of the supreme court. Judge Munger of the federal court, Judges Holmes, Hall and Cornish of the dif trict court, Chancellor MacLean of the state university, D. A. Campbell, O. F. Hillis and Sam Lowe, clerks of the supreme, federal and dis trict courts, and United States Marshal Thummel. Miss Frances Rector gave a heart party on Monday afternoon, which was as much as possible in keeping with the day. The score cards, ices and cakes being in the form of hearts. The prize was won by MisB Latta. The guests were: Mesdames Ode Rector, J. H. Mai lalieu, Katherine Kleutsch-Mills. Man fred Meeds; Misse3 Olive Latta, Helen Hoover, Helen Nance, Lucy Griffith, Grace Harrison, Henrietta Hollowbush, Elizabeth Walsh, Marie Marshall, Ma bel Eulase. The reception given last Saturday night by the Union Commercial club was a decidedly successful affair. The always handsome roams were further decorated with roses and palms. Ices and music with dancing during the lat ter part of the evening added to the general enjoyment. Those receiving were Messrs. and Mesdames Rodgers, Woods, Webster, Irvine, Macfariand, Harpham, Brown, Aitken, Townley, MacLean, Gere. Hall, Wright. Thompson, Burn ham, Muir, Harley, Rudge, Harwood, Barbour, Miller, Maret, Mahalieu and Abbott. Mrs. W. C. Wilson gave a charming reception on Thursday afternoon for almost two hundred guests. Shews? assisted in receiving by Mrs. W. B. Wil son and Miss Harwood. In the dining room Mrs. Wright and Mrs. Robinson served. The decorations were pink and violet, and the ladies were gowned in these colors. They were assistei by Mrs. F. W. Brown, Mrs. Ladd, Mrs. Leonard and Mrs. Tilton. The library was decorated ertirely in red. In this room Mrs. Buckataff served fruit punch. She was assisted by Mrs. Lew Marshall, Mrs. Fred Houtz, Mrs. Wolcott and Miss Katheryn Brooks. Mrs.M. I.
