About twenty-one of the members en joyed their hospitality. On Frida evening Mr. Claude Red of Beatrice, Mr. Williams and Mr. Hart of York were initiated into the Phi KapDaPei. After the initiation a ban quet was enjoyed . part of which came from their young lady friends of Phi Psi. A number or bor parties were given at the Philharmonic concert on Tuesday evening. One box was occupied by Pror. mrt Mrs Kimball. Prof. John Randolph. and Miss Louise Miller. Two boxes were occupied by Mr. and Mr. Charles Mayer, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mayer, Mr. D. Mayer Miss Anna Mayer; and Mr. and Mrs. Herzog. Mr. and Mrs. Cahn, Mm. Polack and Mis3 Fay Herzog. Miss Nelia Cochran gave a kensington Bt her home last Saturday afternoon in honor of Miss Gsrtrude Walton of Blair, a f rmer student of the university and a m mberor the Delta Gamma sorority. Ljdia Mullen Georgia Case and Mis. Frank Wocds Chancellor MacLeac entertained the alumnae of the State University ery delightfully on last Saturday evening. The earlier rart of th evening was spent in the drawirg room in conversa tion aud examining the many relics and curiosities the Chancellor has picked up in bis travels. The guests were then invited into the dining room where ices and cakes were served. In the latter part of the evening the guests were in vited up to the lecturo room where so many enjoyable meetings have been held. The occision was to rejoice over the good fortune of the university and to thank the recent legislature for their appropriation. Other tninrr matters were attended to, among wh'f h was the consideration of forming alumnae as sociations in other c'ties in the U. S., especially in Washingtjn where there are cox several alumnae. White a great deal of business was attended to there was withal such a How of wit and jollity as one seldom hears from such an au gust body as was there assembled. Mr. and Mrs. Loius Herzog gave a large reception at their home on ISth and N streets Thursday evening for Mrs. Polack and Mrs Cahn of Omaha. Many took this opportunity to congratu late Mis. Cahn on her brilliant success at the concert on Tuesday evening. The guests began to arrive Boon after eight and came during the evening until ten. They were received by Mr. and Mrs. Herzog, Mrs. Cahn, Mrs. Campb'H, Mrs. Polack and Mrs. Jansen. The receiv ing party stood in the bay window of the drawing room which was banked with feres and palms. All the rooms were beautifully decorated, each with a par ticular color. The dining room was es pecially beautiful, the decorations being entirely pink. The globes were covered with pink, shedding a warm glow through the room. The table was de corated with pink roses and even the ices and dainty cakes which were served were pink. Mrs. II. B. Ward and Mrs. J. Speier presided in the dining room. They were assisted in serving by Mis?e? Schofield, Anna and LouUe "Miller, Sil ence Dales and Maj hello Hagenox. Mrs. Herzog is to ba congratulated for the brilliancy and success of her reception. Mr. Harry Oury and Mr. Geo. Shedd went to Kansas City on Thursday to at tend the meeting or the Western Ath letic Association, Mr. Martin Cahn, who is himself a well known musician, accompanied Mrs. Cahn to Lincoln and remained for the concert Tuesday e-ening, returning on Wednesday. Miss Estell Morrison has gone to Texas for the winter on account of ill- liealth. Her friends hope she may be greatl benefited by the change. Mrp. Polack of Omaha, is the guest of Mrs. Herzog. Mrs. L.H. Gates of N. V., is visitirg her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Pat terfon. Misn Retta Williams of Omaha, will be the guest of Miss Anna Dunn during the hoi id a) p. Mrs. Hindman is entertaining her parents. They expect to spend the winter in Lincoln. Mr. Robinson, who has coached the Nebraska football team so successfully for tho past two years, left on Tuesday for his home in Providence, R. I. He expects to enter a law school. Miss Martha Burks of Beatrice, and Mr. Harry Harley of Lincoln, w ill be united in marriage at the homo of Mr. and Mrs. Burks on Wednesday, De cember 29th. in the presence of only a few intimate friends. Oa Saturday evening at the home of the Misse3 Stewart. Miss Grace An drews of Fairbury, and Miss Lulu West of Nebraska City, were initiated into the Pi Beta Phi fraternity. After the cere moniey the members enjoyed a "spread." The Lincoln Light Infantry gave the fourth party of the series given by Ladies' Jackets can be found that are very neat and tasty ready to wear.
