Tho "Hoosier Po3t" has visited Lincoln onco or twice before, but never received bo warm a reception as on this occasion. Chancellor Mac Lean introduced Mr. Riley in a few very complimentary remarks. Ho said." "We cannot compare Riley with Robert Burns for Burns is Scotch. Riley is not t,ho Burns of America. He is the 'Rile' of America." Mr. Riley recited quite a number of poems, among the bestof which was"Out to Old Aunt Mary's." His audienco cried and laughed by turns, as tho read er diversified his program by a pleasant mixture of pathos and humor.
