Jackson for his courtf sy in placing the rooms at the disposal of the society for their meetings during the winter. After a general discussion of sidewalks, streets and the work of various standing com mittees in the near future, the society adjourned to meet in the same place the tiret Wednesday in December. The Domestic Economy Department of the Woman's Club which met with Krs. Milton Scott on Monday afternoon, decided to change its name to "House hold Economics," in order to join tho National Federation of Household Economics. It was also voted to invite Mrs. Pugh of Omaha, to deliver a lecture with practical illustrations before the Woman's Club, for the public program of this departmert. At the close of Mrs. Abbott's paper upon -Tho value and properties of food" the ladies adjourned to the kitchen where practical illustrations were given by Mrs. Scott. Barbecued ham served on crackers, sweet potato croquettes and pine apple desert were tempiiagly pre pared by the hostess, and eaten by the members of the department. Adjourned to meet with Mrs. Marsland. The department of parliamentary law of the Women's Club, will meet Tues day, November 9th at three o'clock, at the club rooms. 1113 N street. The "quiz" will be on the precious lesson, Decorum, points of order, defini tion and illustration of Main and Sub sidiary Motions: The assigned lesson for the next meet- ing is Subsidiary Motions, order of pre- cedence, amendments. This is a large department and it is growing in numbers and interest. Wo man's increasing activity in literary matters and participation in public meetings make a practical knowledge of parliamentary methods almost a neces sity and club women are availing them, selves of this opportunity. The Century Club met with Mrs. Kirker on Tuesday afternoon. The program opened with quotations from the Merchant of Venice, followed by a discussion on the "Early History of Venice" led by1 Mrs. Saylor. The paper of the afternoon was read by Mrs. J. L. Teeters and was an in teresting description of the "Queen of the Adriatic." Adjourned to meet with Mrs. Noble on November 16th. The Art Department held an intsrest ing meating.on Tuesday afternoon in the club room, when Mrs. H. H. Wilson took as her subject "Influence of Dante's Divina Comedia as seen in the Painting and Sculpture of It ily." Many photo graphs were used to illustrate, and were much appreciated by the large number Current Events in the World of Art was given by the members. At the meeting of the Woman's Club on Monday next, Mrs. Bushnell will read a paper on "The Annexation of Hawaiiand Mra. Bryan will tell "Why women should study civics." Th City Federation will give its next program Thursday, Nov. 10th. As the board of directors will convene in annual session immediately after it is desired that all clubs belonging to the federation should have their new delegates elected to attend thiB meeting.
