The afternoon was spent in discussing the comprehensive outline of work which had been' prepared by the leader, who had extended the scope of the work beyond the usual limits of this depart ment. The next meeting will be with Mrs. Scott on November 1st, when a paper upon "Foods, Their Value and Proper ties," will be read by Mrs. Abbott, fol lowed by practical demonstrations. The Century Club met with Mrs. Milton Scott, 221 South Twenty-seventh street on Tuesda afternoon to continue their study of Italy. A brief account of the history and government of that part or Northern Italy included in the an cient kingdom of Lombardy, was given by Miss Miller, which waa followed by a history of the University of Padua, from Mrs. M.
