lo TkfefidUffiBR; The State Federation. . The State Federation which met at Beatrice this week, brought together about eighty-eight delegates and as many more visitors. The following officers for the ensuing year were elected: President, Mrs. Stoutenbor ough of Plattsmuulh, re-elected; vice president. Mrs. E. M. Cobb of York; secretary, Mrs. Henrietta Smith of Omaha: treasurer, Mrs. M. V. Nichols of Beatrice: auditor, Mrs. EllaS. Larsh of Nebraska City; librarian, Mrs. G. M. Lambertson of Lincoln. After a spirited dckitc the federation decided nottoapjiointany newspaper as the official organ. Next week The Couii ieu will contair a full account of the meeting and one or two of the papers read. Delegates elected to the na tional federation of Women's Clubs which meets at Denver next year are: Mrs. M. V. Nicholls of Beatrice, Miss Yesta Gray of Fremont, Mrs. Jennie Keysor and Mrs. Frank Heller of Omaha. C.McKillip CbUR NEWS cab club was held in thi new rooms of the club on N street Monday afternoon Therj was a gojd attendance and the program was excellent. Ths club be gins the yeir with bright prospect3. There are but few entirely musical clubs ia tbe 6tite, and not one that is more progressive or more useful to its mem bers than this club. The club studies the beet composers and has planned a course of Etudy for this j ear that should tempt the most earnest student ef music. The new room is very nicely adapted tothe UB98 of the club. Ihe acoustic propert es are of the best and the seating capacity is sufficient to ac commodate all who wish to attend. Tbe chorus membership this year will doubt less be larger than last year. There will be a special effort to make this depart ment one of interest. All who wish to join the chorus are requested to hand in their names at the earliest date. Tbe year book of the club will not be issued until later in the fall, when all members have eent in their names. The city federation of clubs of Crete is one of the most compact organiza tion of clubs in the state. There is not the least friction in the workings of this federation, the various clubs being in the closest harmony. There are seven clubs represented in the federation. The board of managers consists of two representatives from each of the seven clubs, as follows: Round Table, Mesdames Fuller and Tidball; Social Literary, Mesdames Stevens jind Mathews; Sorosis, Mes dames Drake and Sherrill; Mutual Im provement, Mesdames McCargar and Putt: Columbia, Mesdames Rhine and Gonzales; Chautauqua, Mesdames Ire land and Jackson; Athena, Misses Tidball and Fuller. The officers of the federation are: President, Mrs. A. V. Mathews; vice-president, Mrs. Norman Jackson: secretary, Miss Mary Tidball; treasurer. Mrs. Hugh McCar gar. The Federation holds three meetings during the year. One lec ture, one literary program, partici pated in by representatives chosen from the various clubs; one meeting devoted to the interests of the Crete library and one business meeting. September 20th was the date of-the first meeting. Prom 3 to f p. ni.. there was a reception at the residence of Mrs. Lu Norris in honor of the Fed eration's guest, Miss Com Parker of Lincoln. In the evening MissParker gave a talk on "American Painters of Today," illustrated by about sixty lantern slides. This meeting was held in the M. E. church and was free to the public. Mrs. C. B. Hardin gave a talk on "Life in the United States Arnn from a Woman's Standpoint." The matter being iersonal reminis cences. This club will take up the history of architecture, conducted by Miss M.
