MarrieJ, on Wednesday, August 11.
at the home of the bride's unrle Mr. and
Mrs. R. J. Kilpatrick of Beatrice, Miss
Raye Kilpatrick to Mr. John Potter
Cook. The ceremony was celebrated in
the presence of only the immediate re
lations and closest friends, which is just
as it should be. The Courier hopes
that the day will come when wedding
splurges will be as infrequent es they
ought to be.
Mrs. C. F. Ladd will return in a day
or two from an extended tour to Platte
mouth. Extended because Mr. Ladd,
Mrs. Lat'a and baby Sarah left the city
in a phaeton, stopping every few miles
at a farm hous9. where cousins or an
aunt and uncle reside. In this way it took
them a week to arrive at Plattsmoulb.
where there are si ill more kinfolk. Mrs.
Ladd writes that they have bad a
delightful trip. She would not be able to
write tbe adventures of a phselcn for
lack of material.
Miss Olive Latta has returned from
her trip to Wyoming. Mrs. Boles, her
hostes, and Miss Latta were entertained
at several of the comfortable ranches in
the neighborhood. It is a trifle hard on
everybody to come back into the vacuum
of Lincoln society after the gajety and
freedom of the summer vacation place?.
But just as soon as the heat gets i's
fall notice to quit the summer people
will return and society will ba herself
agbin.
Mrs. D. D. Muir and con Wilson will
return to Denver tomorrow. Mrs. Muir
expects to return to Lincoln some time
in October.
Everybody remembers the lions at the
Punko last spring. Adgie, the young
Mexican lass, who had partially sub
jugated them, is now in San Francisco
The Examiner says that the cub, which
occupied Mr. Zehrung's window, is sick,
fiercely sick. The notice Gays that when
Adgie enters the room where the joung
ion is he endeavors to kill her acd that
she retreats with tears falling from her
eyes. Which is a'l very pretty but m t
exactly characteristic of Adgie, who it
will be remembered, was a brave un
sentimental, agile girl. She said the
lions were afraid of her, not fond f f her
or any one. If a tear were in her eye
because the cub was sick it was strictly
for advertisirg purposes.
Mrs. F. A. Boehmer of Quincy, 111.,

Mi6s Marshall's beauty and sprighlliness
have made her a belle in this gay court.
Miss Sadie Burnham is in Kentucky
and writes that the society is delightful,
and begins whenever the sun goes down,
but as long as ho is in sight he has all
cii iVors to himself. Mr. Mattson
Baldwin, in Piophetstown, III., is as
suming mother and uore beautiful,
Iscause a more willowy figure. Daily
conscientious work on the pedals is cor
recting the only defect in an otherwise
matchless form. He will comj tripping
back to Lincoln like Amelia Somerville,
that "Merry littlo mountain maid."
These three members of Lincoln society

in society and their return will be the
