Society has concerned itself during the week with the affairs of tin May Festival. The performers from out of town, as well as delegates from the different musical societies of the stats were entertained by the members of the Matinee Musical and their friends. Many of the hostesses gavo afternoon teas, dinners and receptions to the out of town ladies, which are recorded else where. The society will miss Mrs. Campbell very much. In a eocifl, literary and musical way Mrs. Campbell fills an important place here. Her un usual voice will receive in London the culture which will develop it. Mrr. Limber I son, who goes at the same time, will travel 03 the continent. She will be joino i late in the Bummer by Mr. Lambertson and they will not return till lato in the fall. Mrs. Lew Marshall gave a musical Tuesday afternoon for the out of town guests of the Matinee MuBical, especially Grand Is'and. Mrs. Jno. B. Wright's sister, Mrs. Weaver of Chicago is making her a visit. , Mr. and Mrs. Jay White have gone to Omaha where they will hereafter reside. The Sons and Daughters of Protec tion entertained at the A. O. U. W. rooms on Tuesday evening with a musical program. Mrs. Coons returned on Monday to her homo in Omaha after a delightful visit with her sister Mrs. Jansen. Mrs. Chas. A. Keith, who has been visiting her parents left for DcBMoines on Thursday. The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Leming will be glad to know that they are happily located on a fruit farm at Loma, Texas. Mrs. B. S. Brewster gave a .dinner on Thursday for the musical ladies. The Delta Tau Delta will give a large party on the 14th. Mrs. Margaret Howard of Grand Is land was Mrs. Mitchell's guest. Alphi Phi Kappa Psi gave a party on -Friday, May 7, in tbe club house at 1630 G street. Miss Cora Parker's studio reception at the university this afternoon promises to be very interesting. Miss Parker and her pupils have dono excellent work, some of Miss Parker's studies and im pressions are worth going much further than to the university to look at Sadie Burnham went to Oomaha Friday to be the &ueet of MisB Ljle Alexander for the Boat House party which occurred last evening May Moore is still there. When these young ladies are in Omaha is a noticeable absence from Lincoln of the men who help to make it gay in the season. A committee of the alumni of the State University met on Friday ovening to arrange for their part of the com mencement program. On Friday evening, April 13, 1"he Ne braska Beta chapter celebrated by a dancing patty at Lansing Hall. Ihe decorations were in tho university and fraternjty colors. The scarlet and croam of the university formed the decorations of the n'fet room in soft draperies and dainty gass shade?. In the second room were hangings of wico and blue, the fraternity colois, while wine and blue shades lent a pretty sub dued light. At tbe end of this room, surrounded by palms, Btcoi the table where the ices were served, abo e which in smilax and carnation', were the dates '67 and "97.
