Miss Emma J. Hedges has received
the gratifying news that Judge Munger
of the United States circuit court has
appointed her examiner in chancery to
that court. The position was secured
for her by a number of prominent mem
ber of the bar whs knew that for come
time she had been performing the ser
vices of examiner without receiving the
full fees. Miss Hedges is enc cf the
fir3t women to hold the office, which is
one that her stenographic ability makes
her fully competent to fill. It will, of
court c, make no charge in her resi
dence. Last Friday evening while dark clouds
