Dr. Bessey reports that the people of David City show a remarkable Interest in educational matters, so much so, that standing room was at a premium during the association. Last winter one of the Botanical stu dents brought from Arizona two fine specimens of the buro thoene. a plant exceedingly rare, and interesting since it grows several feet high without a single leaf, and is densely covered with strong thorns. This will be made the subject of a scientific paper for the summer school. The Botanical society of America, of which Dr. Bessey Is president, will meet this year in Toronto about the middle of August.
