make a visit In this city in the near

Miss Jessie L. Lansing, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. J. h Lansing, is the
proud possessor since Monday of the
beautiful Baumer medal for excellence
in music presented annually at
Brownell hall, Omaha. Tt is. of gold,
a naaltese cross In shape and bears on
the face, beside the Inscription a lyre
la green gold and a wreath. As the
medal was won in a large class It is a
mark of great proficiency.
Deborah Avery chapter of the
Daughters of the Revolution met at
the residenc of Miss Mary Stvens, 821
C street, Wednesday afternoon. Bunk
er Hill day was celebrated at this
meeting. Mrs. Harriet Blair Ward
sang "Sword of Bunker Hill," Mrs. L.
B. Pound spoke of the revolution and
the D. A. R., Miss Stevens spoke at
length of the purposes of the D. A. R.,
Mrs. F. A. Haggard read a paper on
the name and significance of the De
borah Avery chapter. A sketch of -Bunker
Hill was given by Miss Cora
Smith. Miss Mariel Gere recited "Ad
dress of Warren." At the close of the
program Mrs. Allen's mandolin club
played "Yankee Doodle."
