Courier is not answerable for any ex
pressions that may appear over the sig
nature of Mr. Newbrancb. Mr. New
branch is simply a contributor, and re
flects his own views and not those of the
editors. Members of the Farragut post
will understand that The Courier could
not and would not speak slightingly of

Mrs. Lamb on K street. The theme
of the afternoon was Longfellow. Mrs.
John L. McConnell presided. Mrs. Allen

Mr Ernest Haughton has been ap
pointed electrical inspector for a New
York Insurance company.

spread at the Y. M. C. A. rooms after
the Trilby performance at the Lansing
on Tuesday night.
Mr. Will Barton and Miss Ella Holden
were married on Wednesday at 7 a. m.
in the pro-Cathedral by Father Nugent.
The bride's sister. Miss Josephine
Holden, of Lawrence, was brideemaid,
and Mr. E. F. McLaughlin was the best
man. Miss I Edna Barton and Miss
Agnes McLaughlin were the organists.
After the ceremony a wedding break
fast was served at the home of the
groom's parents; Mr. and Mrs. Barton
left for a visit to Leavenworth, Kas.
They are very popular young people, es
pecially in Catholic circles. The Cour
ier wishes them a long life and a happy
one.
Mr. Fred Crossley and Miss Edith
Young were married on Wednesday at
the bride's home by Rev. H. R, Murphy.

His many friends will be glad to know
that Capt. John L. Carson is strong
enough to take a trip. The captain
went to South Auburn on a visit
Mrs. L. C. Burr is visiting Mrs. An
drus in Washington, D. C.
Rt. Rev.lhomas Bonacum has been
in Baltimore where he was present with
the highest dignitaries of the Roman
Catholic church at the accompanying
ceremonies conferring the boretta upon
Cardinal Satoili.

ried to a Chicago gentleman. Her
sister, Mrs. A. L. Frost, has gone to
Chicago to be present at the ceremony.
MissFechet, Miss Nance and Miss
Slaughter will give a party at the Lin
coln next Friday night. About ninety
six people have been invited.
Miss Edna Hyatt will return to Lin
coln next week. Her work in the Le
land Stanford university and in the
University of California, has been very
satisfactory to the scientific men for
whom she illustrated. She returns to
an accumulated pile of work at the
Nebraska university, and to a welcome
at home and at school quite as impos
ing. Col. L. C. Pace will deliver an address
on the "Trinity of man or man as a
threefold being'' before the Social
Science club in the A. O. U. W. hall,

K. Pitcher, and Le Grand M. Baidwin
and Aurora M. Baldwin, to the Daven
port Savings bank, and by it assigned
to Mary M. Pitcher, plaintiff herein, up
