Tbo readers of The Lincoln Courier
will hare an opportunity commencing
Monday next, October 28th, of seeing a
greater number of the celebrated trotting
and pacing horses of thecountry than ever
before and at far less expense than is
usually incurred in attending the aver
ago county fair.
On this occasion the Lincoln Park as
sociation of Lincoln, Neb., will hold
their opening meeting at the new mile
track October 23th to November 1st in
clusive. The railroad companies will
give special train servico and a one faro
round trip rate from all points within
two hundred miles of this city. Those
fortunate enough to be within driving
distance can attend and their vehicles
and teams will be admitted to the
grounds free of charge. The park man
agement have established a uniform ad
mission price of 50 cents, which will in
clude free grand stands and quarter
Btretch. Contrary to the usual custom
the oening day will bo the big day.
The business houses of Lincoln will bo
closed at noon so that all can attend the
opening and participate in the dedica
tion of the new grounds. With anything
like favorable weather it is by no means
uncertain that the crowd will bo larger
than has ever attended the State fair.
Commencing promptly at 1 o'clock tho
day's program will open with an exhibi
tion of the horses with national reputa
tions, among them many world's cham
pions. They will be exhibited on the
track in front of the grand stands.
Among tho number will be Alix 2:03i,
the fastest trotter and race mare the
world has ever seen, who was owned,
broken to harness and received her early
training at David City, Neb., and is.
comparatively speaking, a Nebraska
product and the pride of the state; Fly
ing Jib 2:01 to harness and 1:58 with
running mate, the fastest light harness
horse in the world and the first and
only horse to beat the 2:00 minute
mark; Azote 2K)i?4, who holds tho
world's record for geldings, and the fast
est trotter of 1805; Directly 2:07X, the
champion two and three-year-old pacer;
W. W. P. 2KK, who has to his credit
the world's pacing record to wagon; the
great Strathbury 2.-04, holder of the
world's pacing record over a half mile
track, formerly held by Joe Patchen,
and who will attempt at this meeting to
secure the stallion record held by John
R. Gentry 2KJ34'; Carbonet 2:09, last
year's sensational two-year-old pacer,

Wednesday, October 30th, the third
day of the meeting, presents an unusu
ally long and attractive program. W.
W.P.2.-0G will attempt to lower hie
own world's record to wagon. Flying
Jib 2.-01 will make a trial against tho
watch. There will be three of the regu
lar events, the 2:12 pace with fourteen
entries, the 2:35 trot with an equal num
ber, and the 2:25 pace with ten entries,
added to the exhibition of the world
beaters, completes a day's sport nothing
less than remarkable from every stand
point. THURSDAY.
Thursday, October 31st, the fourth
day, besides the exhibitions, will see the
great Strathbury in his attempt to se
cure the pacing stallion record of 2:034
now held by John R. Gentry, as well as
Sulphide and Carbonet in their attempts
to beat their own fast records. The
regular races, perhaps the two best of
the entire week, will be the 2:10 trot for
81,000 and the 220 trot with fifteen en
tries. FRIDAY.
The closing day, Friday, November let,
will see the world's champions exhibited
for the last time in 1895. A number of
fast horses will attempt to lower their
own records, and the events of the
meeting will close with the great con-

ond day of the races, besides the exhi
bition of the world's champions at 1
o'clock, DuBois Brothers of Denver,
Col., wili attempt to secure the world's
pacing team record with Sulphide and
Carbonet, followed in turn by the 3.-00
minute pace, with nine entries, and the
2:15 trot with twelve entries. There
are a number of sensational horses in
the latter and it is confidently expected
the present state record will be lowered
in this event.
