Last year there appeared in The Courier a matrimonial prospectus in which something less than four and twenty brave youths and fair maidens were listed for early sacrifice on Cupids altar. Those persons who noted suc ceeding events know how well the prospectus was vindicated. This year it has not seemed best to gather all of matrimonially inclined into one list. But duo mention will be made from time to time, and it is the purpose to comprehend in these columns u full statement of tho progress matrimony is making in tho ranks of tho free. This week gossip is busy with tho name of a prominent oflico holder and politician and member of society, who, it its said, will soon lead to tho altar a popular young lady whoso homo has been in Lincoln for a number of jears. The latter is particularly well known to tho peoplo in tho state house. Another reported engagement, 6oon to oven tuate into matrimony according to tho gossips is that of a joung man whoso family home is in Omaha, but who h.is been in the wholesalo drug business iu Lincoln for several years, and a young lady who lives in Rockford, III., who has visited in Lincoln'at least twice. Tho first fall wedding occured at tho residence of Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Lau last Tuesday evening when their daughter Anna was married to Mr. Oscar J. Junge. Rev. John S. Uowitt. read the Episcopal marriage service The brido was dressed in crepe silk trimmed with pearls, and wore a tulle veil. The bridesmaids were Miss Nellie Lau and Miss Retta Junge and the groomsman was Mr. Ernest S Folsom. The Couriei:s correspondent in Beatrice sends the following: U. U. Paddock entertain ed a few friends at luncheon in honor of Mrs. Henry Guy Carleton. Mr. and Mrs. Silas P. Wheeler have rented their residence on north Seventh street and will remove permanently to New York city. Their departure will be sincerely regretted by a large and devoted circle of friends. Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler were promicent in all social affairs and Mrs. Wheeler was perhaps the most active and ardent member of tho Woman's Club which was estab lished here last winter. Rumor has it that no less than three Beatrice belles and as many Beatrice beaux will fall in step to the tune of tho wedding march this fall. Eighth street, as Eighth street has ever done, carries off the honors, claiming a sure two-thirds among the fair ones whom Rumor has selected for tho altar. Mrs. Harry Lee and Miss Lizzie La Salle who spent the past month in the Rocky mountains have returned. The yearly exodus of our young people to eastern schools will soon begin.
