Lewis Gregory is improved in health, and will leave for Long Island shortly, T. F. A. Williams, who has been visit ing in Shelby, Iowa, has returned to Lincoln. Miss Katharine Weston of Beatrice, passed through the city Monday enroute to Denver. Prof, and Mrs. Amos Warner, formerly of this city, are spending the summer in Manitou. Mrs. Lew Marshall Bpent the first part of the week in Grand Island, visiting Miss Wasmer. Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Blish are spend ing a couple of weeks among the lakes of Minnesota. Miss Nellie Lau has gone to Hastings where she will be the guest of Miss Stella Payne. Mrs. Charles S. McKenney left Thurs day for the Pacific coast, intending to remain a year. Mr. and Mrs. John B. Wright hare gene on a short trip to Chicago and eastern points. Mr. and Harry Vinsonlaler have returned from St. Louis and are stopping at the Lindell. Prof. Bruner will go to Denver next week to attend the national convention of entomologists. C. O. Whedon and daughter, Miss Lottie, have returned from Battle Creek and Chicago. Miss Ada Gregg, of Kansas City, who has been the guest if Miss Helen Welch, returned home Saturday. Miss Sarah B. Harris entertained a small number of ladies yesterday after noon in honor of Mrs. Little. Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Brace will remove to Denver, Mr. Brace having already been in that city some time. Mrs. D. W. C. Huntingdon and daughter left Tuesday for Ocean Grove, N. J., to spend the summer. Miss Winif red Norval, of Seward, and Mies Nettie Kirlej, of Beatrice, are the guests of Miss Helen Nance. Charing L. Burr, Ross Curtice, Fred White and Lew Marshall returned Thursday from Grand Island. Rev. George Danforth of the Mon tanna state college occupied the pulpit of the First Presbyterian church last Sunday. John M. Thayer, Jr. has removed, with his family, to Beatrice, to accept a position in the institute for feeble mind ed youth. The Baptist Sunday school classes of Richard Missions and Miss Elinor Will iams picniced at Lincoln park yesterday afternoon. Miss Grace Cassell, who has been visiting Miss Henrietta Hollowbush, re turned to Jacksonville, III., the last of this week. Miss Ura Kelley, is in Denver with her father W.R-Kelley. They will go to San Francisco next week to sail for Honolulu. Phi Delta Theta fraternity gave an informal dancing party in the fraternity hall in the First ational bank building last evening. One or two small entertainments were given this week in honor of Mrs. Charles N. Little, of California, who is visiting in the city. M. W. Richardson formerly principal of the high school in the city, has been elected superintendent of schools in Milton, Mass. W. F. Kelley left Thursday for Mt. Pleasant, la., where he will join Mrs. Kelley. They will remain in Iowa through August. The Christian Endeavorers of St. Marks church gave a very pleasant lawn social on the church grounds last Friday evening. Miss Willa Cather came from her home in Red Cloud to spend a few days in Lincoln this week with her friend Miss Mary Jones. G. M. Barrett, of Falls City, and Miss Lou Whittaker, were united in marriage Sunday at the residence of JuleSchoen heit, 1G24 D street. It is reported from Omaha that Judge Dundy's illness may prevent him from assuming his official duties again at least for some time. Mr. Widensall of Chicago, the originator of the Young Woman's Christian Association, visited in Lincoln the early part of the week. G. P. Faucon returned the first of the week from Boston. He spent three weeks in the east and attended a re union of his college class. George F. Walker, of Ashland, and Miss Frances Munson, of this city, were united in marriage Wednesday after noon at the residence of Rev. Bvron Beall. Mr. and Mrs. John T. Dorgan return ed from their extended wedding trip Sunday and immediately took possession of their new home at Fourteenth and E streets. S. L. Geisthardt left Sunday for New York, intending to sail this week for Hamburg. He will make a tour of Ger many, Switzerland, Italy, France and England. Rev. J. M. Thompson left Monday for Des Moines, where he will visit friends and relatives. He will go from there to Baltimore, returning the first of September. Miss Myrtle Coon, of Omaha, is the guest of Miss Kate Kluetsch. Miss Coon is a prominent singer in Omaha. She is expected to sing in the First Pre6byteriau church tomorrow morning. Cards announcing the marriage of John F. Harris have been received in this city. Mr. and Mrs. Harris are now touring in Great Britain, and will make their home in the Virginia hotel, Chi cago, in the autumn. E. B. Finch and Dr. William Vance of Kearney, laid over Monday for repairs. They are making a tour of the state on a tandem but met with a serious accident by running off a bridge near the city.
