THE COURIER Monday evening Governor Holeomh, Ailjutant General Gage. Major Feehet. U. S. A., and Major Williams, first regiment N. X. G.. wore present at the Lincoln Light Infantry company's regular drill at the infantry quarters. The visitors spoke brielly and expressed themselves as highly pleased by proficiency shown hy the military company. An interesting event to occur next week is the wedding of Mr. George J. Woods and Miss Rachel Brock, of which announcement has already been made in Tiik Couicikic. Mr. J. E. Dorgan, of New Hampton, Iowa; who has been visiting his brothers in this city, W. II. and John T. Dorgan. returned homo Tuesday. Mr. Mont Briggs. or New Hampton, Iowa; who has been visiting in this city has returned home. Company D., N. N. G., will give "The Spy or Atlanta" at the Lan sing February 1. Saturday night Mr. and Mrs. II. II. Wilson entertain ed tho senior and post graduate classes of the university law school. They were assisted in entertain ing tho young men by the ladies of the Kappa Canima fraternity. Miss Bertha DuTeil gave a luncheon to tho members of the W. T. G. Cooking club Saturday afternoon. Those present were Misses Parrish, Walthers, Merrill, Bartram, Burleigh, Berk son, Dorothy, Greed. . Kohn and Leese. Miss Nellie Lau enter tained L'A muse men t club Saturday afternoon. High five was the leading feature of the evening's entertainment. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Eaton, Mr. and Mrs. Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Hopk-'us. Mr. and Mrs. Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Coch ran, Mr. and Mrs. Graham, Mr. and Mrs. Borschel.Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, Miss Clara Shockey, Mr. John Perkins. Willie Wont jou come out and play? Nellie (daughter of an Advarced Woman) No, William I cannot, at least not until I have obtained the requisite information for my paper on the philosophy of the Chaldeans, to be read at the next meeting of the Little Girls Up to Date club. Now run away, and don't inteirupt my studies. Mr. and Mrs. F. M, Blish entertained the whist club of which they are members, Monday night. Those pres ent were: Mr. and Mrs. Lindley, Mr. and Mrs. T. C. M linger. Mr. and M-s. Hutchins. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. L. Mcissner, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Grainger, Mr. and Mrs. Mauritius. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Bergers entertained a few friends Monday evening with whist. Mr. O'Shea was awarded the first gentlemen's prize, and Mr. F. A. Miller, the booby. Mrs. C. W. Hoxie was given the ladies' royal, and Mrs Albert Dillon the consolation. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Sizer, Mr. and Mrs. F. A Miller, Mr. and Mrs. T. J. O'Connell, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Dillon. Mr. and Mrs. C. II. Blanchard, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick O'Shea, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Hoxie, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Jones. Prof. W.J. Kinsley left Monday afternoon for New-York. The Society of the Hall in the Grove met Iat evening at the resi dence of Mrs. J. D. Moore. Prof. Movius has been made musical director at the Central Church of Christ. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Boggs gave a very enjoyable whist part Tuesday evening. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Weir. Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Brown. Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Giililan. Mr. and Mrs. E Hallett. Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Waujrh. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Lindley. Mrs. I. W. Lansing. Mr. J. J. Davis, Mr. W. E. Kirker, Miss Kirker 'I here were no prizes. The Philharmonic orchestra is preparing for an elaborate concert JIiss &!. who has been ill, is reported as convalescent, to be given in the near future. Mrs. Angie F. Newman left Wednesday for Salt Lake Cit-. Prof. G. C. Williams, Miss Grace Cook, Prof. Snuflin and Mrs. Allen's Mandolin club participated in tho entertainment given in tho Y M. C. A. hall last evening. Mrs. Foss Seacrest is vititing her parents at.Uiawatha, Kansas. I
