The ball given at Worthington academy on Thursday evening was
a brilliant affair.
Miss Cora McDowell left yesterday for her home in Fairbury
where she will spend the holidays.
The pleasant home of Miss Florence Winger was aglow with light
on Friday evening, the occasion being a dancing party to her friends.
The spacious rooms were decorated with flowers and everywhere
bright pretty faceB could be Been and merry voices heard. Delicious
refreshments were served during the evening. About ono hundred
and twenty-five invitations were issued and but few regrets were received.
The society event of the week was the dancing party given Wed
nesday evening at the Lansing hall by Lieut, and Mrs. R. H. Town
ley. The hall was 'filled with merry dancers, the gowns worn by
the ladies were very fetching. The music was excellent, the floor
was in tine condition, the company congenial and everyone spent a
most delightful evening.
The young society people of the city are manifesting much inter
est in the coming engagement of the Princeton Glee club, which
will appear at the Funke some time during the holidays.
The Young Men's republican club met Thursday evening at the
Lincoln hotel. A new constitution was adopted and the matter of
giving a banquet was discussed, a committee with power to act was
appointed as follows: Fritz Westermann, L. A. McCandless, H. K
Kerman, F. M. Tyrel and Stewart Shears.
The marriage of Miss Marie Jones and Mr. Clinton Lee will take
place at the home of the bride's parents, December 26.
F. M. Fisk left Wednesday for Grand Rapids.

Miss Lillibridge and Miss Marquette were in Omaha Thursday.
Mr. W. D. Robinson and brido left Wednesday afternoon for St.
Louis.
Mr. and Mrs. George B. Edwards of Batavia, N. Y., are the guests
of Mrs. S. C. O. Upton.
