n tMe courier A. K. AndriaDO, of Omaha, was in the city this week. The charity bail project seems to ho lagging. E. P. Roggen of Omaha was in the city Monday. VS S. C. Lnngworthy ot Seward spent Tuesday in the city. W. H. Johnson and family have gone to Selma, California. N. C. Brock went to Dee Moines, la., Tuesday. W. A. McCandless has returned from Duell county, where he en joyed a hunt. Miss Fitzmorris, of the university conservatory, has been called to her home in Iowa by the illness of her mother. The promenade concert given by the Mendelssohn concert or chestra in representative hall at the capitol Tuesday evening was at tended by a largo number of friends and admirers. The hall was artistically decorated with the national colors. In the centro of the hall was a large platform for the orchestra, and this, too, was decor ated. The hall proper was reserved for the promenade and for the drill by tho light infantry. The audience was seated around thesides of the hall and in tho lobby. At 8:30 the march '-Apollo' was com menced, and while it was being rendered the following patronesses with their husbands joined in tho promenade; Adjutant-General Gage and Mrs. A. W. Jansen led the march followed by Messrs. and Mesdames R. II. Oakley, J. W. Winger, A. S. Raymond, F. M. Hall, C. S. Lippincolt, D. A. Campbell, II. R. Nissley, D. E. Thompson, J. J. Iiuhoff, L. C. Richards, A. C. Zeimer, and C. C. Burr. The pro gram consisted ot musical selections, exhibition drill by the light in fantry and Delsarto exercises by eleven young ladies. Frank W. Sam E. Moore and daughter. Miss Mae, are visiting relatives in Newark, Ohio. Dr. J. C. Pringle, of Yellowstone Park, is visiting uis siste., Miss Emma Gale. Mr. and-Mrs. James B. Reed of Nebraska City are visiting friends in this city. Mrs. H. M. Summers of Holdrege, Neb., is the guest of Mrs. M. Tierney, 1602 E street Miss Quick, who has been tho guest of Miss Carson for tho past two weeks, left for her home in Des Moines, la., Monday. The Lincoln Light Infantry gave its regular monthly inspection drill and dance at Germania hall on Monday evening. The drill was one of the best ever given and the dance afterward was just as enjoyable as those in the past. The number of Greek fraternities of the state university has been increased. A new chapter styled the Delta Delta Delta has been organized. This fraternity is composed of promising university girls and its success is already assured. The first recital of the artists concerts, projected by Director Willard Kimball of the university conservatory of music was given Tuesday evening. The program was made up mostly trooi modern composers and was bright and pleasing as well as interesting Tha composers represented were: Beethoven, Greig, Liszt and Chopin and a sketch of each was printed opposite his number. The order was as follows: Sonata op 27, No 2 Louis von Beethoven Adagio sostenuto, Allegretto, Presto Agitato. Two Studies j5;lS;; f - - Frederic Chopin Fantasie in F minor ... - Frederic Chopin Sonata op. 46. piano and violin - Ed Greig Allegro molto ed appassionata, allagretto espressive alt a Romanza, allegro animate. Second polonaise ..... Franz Liszt A character of Mr. Seiveking's playing is the rapid tempo he is able to maintain. Every number had its merits; his rendition of Beethoven's sonata, and a poetic selection from Greig were partiolar ly charming. Mr. August Hagenow assisted in one number, the Greig sonata. Miss Lila Alexander, who has been the guest of Mrs. S. H. Burnham, has returned to her home in Omaha. A most enjoyable reception was tendered Secretary J. K. Doane in the Y. M. C. A. building on Wednesday evening. The large rooms were well filled throughout the evening with friends who had called to bid him farewell and wish him success in the future. After the reception a concert was given by the Lincoln college of music. Fred M. Loomis returned Sunday from Chicago. V. C. Gray, an experienced newspaper man, recently of Denver, who came to Lincoln some ten days ago as the guest of George Woods, has accepted the position of advertising manager with the Call. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Hargreaves wiil entertain a large number of their friends at whist this evening. Mr. F. S. Burr made a purely business trip to Grand Island last Saturday. 7rAf.3odn Chorus Fire !
