gelding and deserves a world of

Marcella Boy picked up his head,
stretched every muscle in his well
developed body and shook the leaders
off. Jockey Gruber released Mar

raced well throughout. Jockey Mills
took McClintock to the front at the
start where his mount held sway un
til challenged by Marcella Boy.
.Walter Dant made up ground from
.the one-half globe and Succeeded in
finishing third.
Saddles Second Winner.
W. -F. Knebelkamo saddled his
first winner of the day in the fifth
race when Mooresque, the paddock's
choice, won in a canter over a field
of nine starters. Jockey B. Scheffel
gave the Knebelkamp filly the proper
treatment from the start and when
the field neared the finish. Moor-:
esque had the speed to pass Don
lose and finish first by one and a
half lentrths. . . .

He held this position from the one
half pole. '
. The initial race of the afternoon,
went to A. B. Jones, the J. A. Hall
gelding. Jockey M. Richardson was
at the helm of the Hall entry and
managed to take B. A. Jones to the
front at the half globe where he se't
the pace, finishing the five and one
, half furlong race a length in front of
Desert Rose. The latter made up
plenty of ground from the start and;
was easily -second best, galloping :
passed the stand five lengths in front
of Ellen Smyth, who was third.
Bob Giles, a 36-1 shot and Sir
John, jr., a 14-1 chance, furnished
the best finish of the afternoon in
the second race. The former nosed
the latter out for first money, while
Sir John nosed Maud M out of sec.

and Bolala in show. The winner
raced Our Leader into early defeat
and entering the stretch two and one
half lengths in front of the field,
was able to hold his lead only after a
little assistance by Jockey Single

Our Leader raced well during the
early part, of the six .furlonpr route,
but was unable to keep up the pace
when challenged by I. W. Harper,
Tom "Ellison, Bolala and Double
Eye. - The latter finished fourth.
Maysville Wins Race.
" J. T. Nichols saddled a winner in
the ' fourth race for six . furlongs,
when Maysville, a 4-year-old bay
filly by Cavalcadour-Hill Top, with
J.. Allen in the pilot house, romped
nome an easy winner over a iiem ot
seven starters. : . .
Jockey Allen took good care of the
. Nichols filly throughout the .. race.
During the early part she waited on
the leaders, then picked up her head
and sprinted to the front. - Passing
the three-quarter globe, the Nichols
filly looked 'em in the eye, and with
rapid strides won the race with speed
to spare. . .
; Leneive, with J. Carroll up, got
away in fourth position, and enter
ing the stretch second, held her place
until the finish. Herder outstayed
San Pablo, the paddock's choice, and
finished in show, winning that posi
tion by a nose.
