Chirlie Erwin's colon wre ar
ried to victory in the Lioni club
handicap which featured the second
day's card at the Ak-Sar-Ben track
yesterdayt by his speedy Motor Cop,
which triumphed after a spirited
drive over Woodie Montgomery.
Ikey T., flyin the silks of the Tarn
O'Shanter stable, and piloted by H.
Tullett, finished third. The distance
was a mile and one-sixteenth.
It was Motor Cop's first start of
the local season and his successful
debut in the good field indicates that
he will be one to reckon with in
races to come.
The Cop went to the barrier with
the entire paddock behind him.
Jockey Pablo Martinet was in the
pilot house and when the tape broke,
allowed New Model to show the
way for a few yards, then gave Mo
tor Cop a few words of encourage
ment and the Cop passed New Model
like a Rolls-Royce passes a flivver.
New Model followed Motor Cop
until the tliree;quarter pole, where
Sedan, another Irwin performer,
looked the Gaertner entry in the eye
and galloped around the turn after
the Cop. Sedan soon tired and along
vcame woodie Montgomery. The
latter entered the stretch two lengths
behind Motor Cop and, as he neared
the finish, Jockey Singleton applied
the whip and was gradually gaining
on the Cop as they galloped under
the wire.
' Jockey Martinze piloted Motor Cop
down the stretch two lengths ahead
of Woodie Montgomery and, as he
neared the end, was forced to give
his mount a hard ride in order to
' capture the feature race e4 the day.
Ikey T left the barrier in fourth
position and gradually closed in on
the field. He entered the stretch in
third position and was fast catching
up with Motor Cop and Wooodie as
he passed the judges. ,

or a Tasty Cream Cheese Sandwich
All for 10c
In our special sandwich we have made the first
definite improvement since that famous "Lord
Sandwich" Luncheon hundreds of years ago,
from which the name sandwich is derived.
We do not allow the butter and meat to come
into contact with each other, by using three thin
slices of bread. Two of the slices are buttered and
placed buttered sides together, then the meat is
placed on the top and the unbuttered slice of
bread added. In this way we prevent the
"soggy" sandwich. -
This sandwich is especially good for lunch
boxes and picnics for it prevents the chemical
change which occurs when meat and butter are
left together for some hours.
