Suit Filed to Test
County Redistricting
Edward V. Palmer, 914 South
Twenty-sixth street, will file a
mandamus action in district court to
compel Flection Commissioner Mc
Hugh to accept his filing for nomina
tion for county commissioner from
the Foutlt district.
"It is merely a friendly test suit,"
said McHugh, who refused to accept
Palmer's filing from the Fourth dis
trict, holding that his home in the
Ninth ward is in the First district.
The county commissioners changed
the district boundaries last week. Hut
the 1919 law say they can. redistrict
only once in four- years. They re
districted in July. 1918, and there
fore cannot again redistrict until
July, 1922, McHugh claims.
If the redistricting last week was
illegal, Painter can file only from
the First district.
