Liverpool again showed weakness
this morning and the lower prices in
that market was retlerted in an
easier feeling on liis side of the wa
ter. As has been the case for the
! past several days good support ap
peared on the break and prices in the
futures rallied. High south winds in
Oklahoma are said to be blowing out
the moisture causing shorts to cover.
Mr. Barton Millard has a communi
cation from the office of commercial
attache of the U. S. embassy at
Buenos Ayrcs which states that there
was a large carry over of wheat in
Argentine from last years crop and
this with an estimated crop of
4,215,000 tons, or about 157,000.000
bushels gives that country an export
surplus of 4,000.000 tons or about
149.000.000 bushels for this season.
There was good buying of futures
today on expectation of the govern
ment report to be issued just after
the close being bullish, final prices
showed somewhat higher than last
night's close. Government report,
just issuedf shows farm reserves of
wheat 131.000,000 bushels; corn,
1.313.120,000 bushels; oats, 404,461,
000 bushels.
Receipts of all grains were lighter
this morning, arrivals of wheat. 12
cars; corn, 52 cars; oats, 15 cars.
This compares with 61 cars of wheat,
41 cars of corn and 8 cars of oats
last year. Shipments were heavy, 176
cars of all kinds ot cram Deing re
ported out as compared with 126
cars a year ago.
Sales of cash wheat on the local
exchange were made at about un
changed to lc higher quotations.
There was a god demand tor corn at
He to lc up. Oats sold unchanged to
lie lower. Rye was ViC to lc up,
while barley was nominally un
changed.

lowest early and highest at the close.
Cash Interests and houea with eastern
connections were good buyers and there
was also considerable short covering on
account of the governdent report, due

day, and private cables estimated export
able surplus at 100,000,000 bushels. Ship
ping sales here were 195, 000 bushels, in
cluding 65,000 to exporters. Snuple values
were unchanged to c higher, with re
ceipts 319 cars. White corn gained frac
tionally on the May. Expectations are for
smaller receipts, as country roads are
breaking up.
Oats held within narrow limits, com
mission houses buying on tho breaks,
while eastern longs Hold on the bulcea.
Minneapolis reported exporters were after
oata there and some business was put
through at the seaboard. Receipts, 78
cars, with sample values unchanged.
An excellent demnn.i prevailed for rye
in all positions and Norway has taken
400,000 bushels In the last few days at
the seaboard, while liberal purchases were
expected to be made overnight for Rus
sian relief. Hout.es with neaboard con
nections bought futures freely.
Pit Notes.
The government report given out today
strengthened grain valups 5jc. It was
construed by the trade in general as bull
ish, although wheat reserves wero 6,000,
000 bushels more than the private esti
mates, while corn showed a loss of 47,
000.000 bushels under the lowest of pre
vious estimates and oats 62.000,000 bush
els more than the inside figures of the
private reports, hut of the three grains
there was an aggregate shortage of 617,
000.000 bushels from a year ago. A point
made by the trado in general was how
much of the leas has been discounted by
the recent advance in pric.
'it trado has operated for somo time
on expectation of a bullish report on farm
reserves, and with prices up 47 cents on
wheat and 20 cents on corn rrom me low
est of the season, there are many traders
who are going slow anil confine purchases
to sharp declines. Others are very bull-
sh and are buying on breaks.
An important factor in the government
report is the heavy shortage in corn re
serves in leading states, also of winter
heat In the southwest, as compared with
a year ago, Kansas farmers having 25,
000,000 bushels under a year ago, with
crop prospects about the poorest known.
Gulf and Manitoba wheats, particularly
tho latter, continue to be picked up read
ily by exporters and supplies are being
rapidly reduced. Should exporters keep
up their buying at the recent rats they
will soon hav gulf stocks moved out and
draw on Kansas City.
Kansas City grain men wero active to
day In reporting high winds in Kansas
and Oklahoma which they said was detrt
mental to the wheat crop. There are
complaints coming in from northern In
diana, as Indicated by the government
weekly croo renort. while the latter sug
gests an Improvement in tho southwest
owing to recent rains.
Weakness In foreign exchange Is hav
ing a tendency to check export business in
North. Americas, wheats.

ket continued quiet and devoid of lea
ture today, although better cables ad
vices helped to send the list a little
higher. Prices were advanced about
tg!8 points with first sales, but slipped
off somewhat before midday. Under
mors active support from trade Interests,
local shorts and ring traders, th market
developed a generally firm undertone early
in the afternoon and prices went to 20 or
20 points over last night's close. Offer
ings wero snapped up, but business was
still quiet. Support from spot houses.
Wall street shorts and New- Orleans In
terests held th market firm In the last
hour at a net gain of better than c
a pound and tlie close was within a few
points of the top.
Spot cotton was steady, 50 points ad
vnc at 18.70o for middling upland.

ket developed some weakness and trade
was slow at prices ranging from steady

general market for beef cattle Is not so
very much different from a week ago.
Cows and heifers were In very good de
mand and generally about steady, and If
there, was any change In the stockera and
feeders' trade it was In the direction of

Sheep and Lambs Receipts, 11,000
head. The market was very slow to open
today and with a dull undertone trading
was, largely on a basis of steady to 25c
lower. Bulk of fat lambs moved at $16.00
15.23. with a ton nrles of $15.30. No
feeders or shearing lambs were received.
Sheep were strong to 60o higher, beat
quality light ewes selling at $9.00.
