Pit Note.
Buenos Aires cabled: "Clearances ot
wheat from this country continues in
liberal volume and are expected to bo
maintained. Goodly quantities of wheat
are coming forward from the Interior to
the ports to be shipped out on contracts
already made for March and April. Port
stocks of wheat have been steadily en
larging and now exceed 7,000,000 bush
els. Weather continues fine. The growing
crop of corn Is progressing favorably,
with the outlook In most sections quite
satisfactory. Clearances of corn continue
rather moderate.'
Topeka, Kan., wired: "Commercial and
banking Interests are optimistic over the
outlook for a wheat harvest well up to
the lO.year average yield from 11.000,000
acres sown In Kansas. A. snowfall of
3 to 12 Inches over ths state has added
to the prospect."
Thomson-McKlnnon aald: "Supplies or
domestic and bonded wheat In the United
States decreased 3.400.000 for th week,
and there are numerous indications of
an awakening in the flour and milling
trade. It Is the domestic situation that
has clouded the view of the market,
therefore, any betterment In cash wheat
here at home will make values more
sensitive to th foreign strength."
Cash Whent Strong.
Winnipeg cash wheat basis was rela
tively strong, but there was snld to be
little business at prevailing levels. Greek
buying was expected to make a big hole
in supplies of No. 2 Manitoba in eastern
positions. Cash interests are said to be
long futures at Winnipeg, and are under
stood to have wheat under contract for
export and will want delivery on May
contracts.
A local mill paid 11.71 for a car of No. 1
northern wheat. Generally prices were
strong for cash wheat relatively.
Export sales of flour mode from here
to Constantinople. Minneapolis reported a
fair domestic demand for flour.
Sales of 200.000 bushels, corn to go to
store waa reported. Country offerings of
both corn and oats were light In spite
of strong bids sent out last night.

day. In the early advance, under the
influence of better cable advices and
unfavorable crop weather In the eastern
belt, th list moved up 20 to 36 points.
Trade Interests as well as New Orleans
and Wall street houses were buyers;
selling came from professional longs,
Liverpool or the south. - At idsssion
the list was back to a level, 13 to 21
points up, and lone selling met less
resistance and prises sagged to about
Monday's close In the afternoon. The
last half hour was more active, bear
months eased I to S points under Inst
right and the market closed generally
ateady, 5 points net lower to 1 higher.
