Oman. II. leased 4'lre,
Chicago, Feb. 25. A wave of
bullish enthusiasm iwrpt over the
grain markets today. It carried May
wheat and the deferred deliveries of
oats to within a fraction of the best
prices of the season. All deliveries
of corn went to a new high "on the
crop." Week-end evening up caused
a reaction from the outside figures,
hut the finish was at net gains of
4&2Ac on wheat, 2,42,jc on
corn and lj'g&'lc on oats, while
rye was up fl&'l'Hc.
The bulls had things almost their
own way during the last week. While
July wheat lagged on account of a
partial breaking of the drouth in the
southwest, the undertone was very
strong. Corn furnished the surprise.
It sold to within a few cents of the
figures at which it was selling a year
ago. Closing trades showed net
gains of 2J4(gbJic on wheat, as
compared with the previous week,
while corn was up 56!4c, oats
l!4lc and rye 2tf24c.. Lard
and ribs sold at the best prices of
the season and lard gained 20(i30c,

try offerings to arrive, although 50c per
bushel and better was bid at country
points In Illinois and about that figure

vailing between the price of hogs and
corn Is having considerable effect on sen
timent.
Tha Russian relief has asked for of
fers of 25,000 tons of corn grits. The ex
port demand at the seaboard was good
with some sales made for May-June
shipment. Prospects are for a consld
erable reduction (n the movement In the
immediate future, which was a big fac
tor in inducing buying of futures.
FxporterB are taking liberal quantities
of oats and with corn strong, an ad
vance was easily attained, the finish be
ing about the top with the July at a
now high figure for the season.

The trade Is looking for reports on
farm reserves of grain on Monday. A
private estimate is coming out which
shows about 60.000.000 bushels less wheat
and around 150,000,000 bushels more
corn and 130,000.000 bushels less oat.

surplus from the new crop was given as

able of 100.000,000 bushels. Of this
quantity 26.000,000 bushels already has
been shipped and 20.000.000 bushels sold,
but still clear white Brazil needs 20,
000,000 bushels. That accounts for 65,
000.000 bushels.
Commencing Monday, grain in several
private elevators in Chicago, which have
heretofore not been reported, will be in
cluded In the visible supply. Total stocks
In the elevators are about 125,000 bushels
wheat, 160.000 bushels corn. 1,650,000 bush
els oats, 6,000 bushel, rye and 10,000
bushel, barley.

New York. Feb. 25. The market for
coffee futures was very quiet today. Yes
terday's heavy liquidation and switching
appeared to have pretty well cleaned up
the March position as there was no fur
ther business In that delivery this morn
ing. There was a little covering in the
later months at the start, with the open
ing 1 point lower to 2 points higher,
but the buying waa very limited and
prices later sagged off under acattertng
liquidation. May reacted from 8.67o to
8.60o with the market closing at . net
decline of 1 to pointa. Sales were esti
mated at about 11,750 bags." March, 8.47c;
