At all times there are on the market dyes that differ in their prop erties of resisting light, wash ing, perspiration, etc. Therefore, the dyer must, make his selection so that the resulting color will retain its greneral tone until thi garment will no longer be wearable. If a dyer uses three dyes to produce a desired shade and one of them, which is neces sary to that shade, cannot be produced as a fast color dye by anyone, this one dye will soon begin to fade and the original tone of the garment will vanish. Popular demand determines the exact shades to be worn each season, and the dyer must obey the mandate of fashion.
