Creighton Tossers Show Same
Fighting Spirit of Teams of
Previous Years in Iowa Game
C REIGHTON followers Thursday placed the stamp of ap
' proval squarely on Coach "Chuck" Kearney's 1923 Hill
J top tossers when they took Iowa university's crack quin
tet Jnto camp by a J9 to 17 score.
The game furnished Creighton's first real test, and hav
ing survived the initial one with flying colors, Creightonites
are confident of a victorious season on the hardwood floor.
Even had Creighton lost, local
tiiiorter would have been well
pleased with the team, for it was
evident ijiat the "lighting spirit"
which ha been instilled in all the
trims since Ih; fimou ones of 1918
nnd 1919 was not missing In this
jear's quintet.
At the end of the first half, Iowa
was on the long end of a 13 to 5
fccore, but in the second half Kear
ney s underlings callied and piled up
a two-point lead on their opponents
w hich they held when the final
whistle blew.
The teams will meet again tonight
rnd another capacity crowd is ex
Dccted to be on hand.
Next Monday and Tuesday nigjht
the Creightonites will clash with
Colgate flippers.
