An Unusual Title for an
Unusually Interesting Serial
XJENRY C. ROWLAND writes the sort of story that is universally popular. He
combines the ' ability to weave absorbing plots with the gift of a breezy and
always interesting style. For these reasons a new story by Mr. Rowland is always
a real event for fiction lovers. ' - i
Mr. Rowland's latest novel will be published for the first time as a Blue Ribbon
serial in The Sunday Bee. The first installment will appear next Sunday.
"$100,000 REWARD" is a story of adventure, love, intrigue, humor and
money, crowded with action, thrills and laughs. Even the first chapter bulges with
mystery. Don't fail to start it next Sunday. '
The Hero
The Heroine The Extinguisher
Matthew H o I rrya s is an
author with an imagination
that never lags. When the
story opens, he is in financial
distress because he spent all
the . money he made 'with a
first successful book and
play, and failing success in
those that followed, is faced
with a big income tax pay
ment, and no way of paying
it. In this situation he goes
to appeal to Uncle Jerry, who
was supposed to die vand
leave his money to Matt. ' He
didn't.
Nancy is the sister of
Uncle Jerry's wife. She
knows that Matt opposed
Uncle Jerry's marriage to her
sister, and sparks start to fly
the minute they meet.
Throughout the story they;
clash with unfailing regular-'
ity, and these clashes consti
tute some of the most amus
ing passages in the serial.
When Matt starts out on his
career of tracking the kid
napers Nancy insists on going
wherever he goes, and they
adventure and fight together.
is next in importance to our
hero and heroine. It is a new
contraption in which Matt
hopes to interest Uncle Jerry
in order to recoup his for
tunes. It was intended origi
"nally to put out fires, but in
Matt's hands it becomes a
weapon of defense and of
fense with which he sprays
savage dogs, hostile men, and,
by mistake, even Nancy her
self. Then Nancy sprays
Matt when he is in the midst
of a blood-stirring fight. In
the end the extinguisher vin
dicates itself. .
You will like "$100,000 REWARD." It has all the ele
' ments that appeal to lovers of fiction the world over.
