Fruit Flavor.
A little salt added to fruit punch
intensifies the flavor. Kelativc to(
fruit punches, nutrition specialists
point out that fresh fruit drinks, es
pecially those made from grape juice
and the various citrus fruits, are im
portant for children because they
supply vitamines. A pitcher of
orangeade or lemonade or grape
punch, therefore, is not a mere
gratification, but a real contribution
to the day's food.
To Remove Spots.
If you have white spots on your
dinjug room table, left from placing
hot dishes on it, they may be re
moved by using camphorated oil,
rubbing it well in.
Club Sandwiches.
Almost any one will order a club
sandwich at a restaurant, but few
think of making them at home, where
they may be enjoyed equally as
much.
Take three slices of bread, thinly
cut in any desirable shape, toasted
and buttered. Place a lettuce leaf on
the lower slice, and on its top put
slices of chicken breast. Then put
another slice of toast on top of that,
with another leaf of lettuce, fol
lowed by thin slices of broiled break
fast bacon, topped with a third slice
of toasted bread. Finish the sandwich
with thin slices lengthwise of small
pickles, on top of the last slice of
toast. The toasted bread and bacon
should be hot.

WHILE it is not the most
esthetic theme in the world to
discuss, still the troubles due
to perspiration are common enough,
accentuated in warm weather, and
Consequently require discussion.
To get right down to it, generally
Cpcaking the delicacy of the subject
lies in its being due more often than
not to carelessness about personal
hygiene. Sometimes, to be sure, ex
cessive perspiration is due to a run
down nervous condition which re
quires medical treatment or a good
tonic.
Where the trouble is present, how
tver, excessive care about personal
iiygiene is required, because if this
!s neglected an unpleasant odor is
jiven forth with the perspiration.
A body not batLcd frequently
fnough, carelessness about under
near, about dress shields, about
stockings, and about airing clothes
will offend with an unpleasant odor.
Heavy sachets and perfumes will
only make matters worse. ,
Get the Daily Bath Habit.
The first remedy is excessive and
icrupulous cleanliness. People with
the daily bath habit react psychologi
cally to a particularness about
matters of dress. It is an almost
Impossible feat to put on soiled
fnderwear and stockings where the
ilaily bath is an established habit.
Even though it requires a little extra
washing at night to augment the
supply, the clean and wholesome
girl will have them.
The morning cold shower and the
evening warm bath are required in
Mmuncrtime, even more than at any
I other season. Uean stockings every
I day. and fresh underwear, too.
! ' Shields are worn day after day by
! some women, even a season's
length, without being washed and
; they, hold an odor , of perspiration
i which is exaggerated and repeated
after each wearing. It is a simple
matter to wash them. There arc tiny
safety pins on the market quite in
expensive, to save the sewing in of
. the shields after each washing.
Woolen and silk dresses, which
: bfvc once become infected with a
perspiration odor must be se.'it to a
! cleaner's. But if after e-u-h wearing
they are hu w here the sir may get
tlnot'gh them t;,c trouble L miri
i:ii?ed p'e.i'ly.
Many are not themselves con
scious of a perspiration odor about
them, while others arc painfully sen
sitive about it. So, when in doubt,
bathe, and bathe whether in doubt
or not. And be careful in the matter
of underwear and airing clothes.
The most serious consideration is
urged on this subject and its preven
tion and remedies because more than
ere girl has lost out botii in ro
mance and businsss because of a
faul that seems not to' Lcgt- easy
fo:fiveness on the part oi the male,
n A Doctor's Aavice
Tust a tio that many girls and
women are not familiar wifh Dr.
William Lee Howard says:
"At certain times girls will have
more or less of an odor from their
skins and breaths. It is extremely
noticeable in some, and in others of
the more careful cleanliness and
habits it will be detected. Perfumery
only makes matters worse; the at
tempt to cover the natural odoi rs
too marked. These odors are all
caused by acids and other chemical
materials which exist in the natural
secretions, of the body; the perspira
tion, breath and other secretions.
"The less water there is in the hu
man system the more will these
chemical odors pervade the
atmosphere surrounding the girl. It
is lack of plenty of water that causes
the skin to give forth odors. If yon
have exercised to the extent of bring
ing on profuse perspiration an I have
not drunk plenty of water before,
during, and after exercise, no amount
of bathing will prevent an odor from
coming from the skin.
'"If you are going out to a dance
or any place where you will be in a
warm room, you will be unable to
disguise the chemical odors coming
from the skin. But if you have filled
your system with water two or three
hours before going out. your sKin
will have a natural delicious odor.
You can so saturate your system
with pure water that all thes- fatty
acid odors become highly diluted,
and scarcely any of them will make
their presence known to tnose arouna
you."
Formula for Lotion.
Then there is an astringent lotion
which I recommend heartily. It came
to me through Dr. A. W. Williams,
skin specialist, and I have been
recommendine it for some time, with
great success to my correspondents,
they report. It is efficient and inex
(ersive. A 25 per cent solution of alum
inum chloride in distilled vater is
dabbed gently on the part every
second or third day, and allowed to
dry on. This will cause a rapid
amelioration of excessive sweating.
It is usually sufficient to make three
such applications, then to wait for a
recurrence before resuming treat
ment, or one application a week may
be made to ward off recurrences.
This may be used with great suc
cess on the feet and on the hands,
as well as under the arms. If the
skin is extremely sensitive it has
been known to cause" irritation, in
which case the simple expedient of
diluting the formula by splashing
water first on the part before ap
plying is all that is necessary. Ex
cessive use of it will cause irrita
tion, a sharp and stinging sensation,
which subsides if the part is not
scratched. But where reasonable
care is exercised the trouble will be
nil. If itching does occur, in spite
of precautions, anoint with cold
cream.
Be sure to make the application
at night before retiring, and let it
dry thoroughly before any wearing
apparel is allowed to touch the skin.
Be warned against overenthusiasm
in its use.
