were brought to local stock yards
by truck, which was 2,816 more than
brought by truck in the same month
last vcar. In Tune of this year, 23,-
()76 hogs were shipped to the local
yards bv auto truck.

The first three days of this week
3i carloads of cattle were received
at local stock yards from the Crow
Indian agency at Spear, Mont.,
and the shipment was the largest
single one of cattle received this
season. They were sent by E.
Frame, live stock superintendent of
the agency. Most of the consignment
were of the good beef class aiid the
bulk of the shipment was bought by
representatives of packers at a price
of from $7.30 to $7.50 a hundred.
B. B. Clark of Crane, Ore.,
brought in a shipment of 58 head of
cattle yesterday out of four carloads
that made a new top record on full
load lots. The price was $7.75 and
the average weight 1,277 pounds.
The balance of the shipment was
sold for $7,25 a hundred. Four loads
of horned cattle of lighter wcirIu
were in the same train, sent by the
Crane Cattle company. They
brought $6.85 to $7.15 for the bulk

Chester, Pa.. Aug. 5. Sixteen hun
dred ship yard workers struck yes
terday at the Chester yards of the
Merchant Shipbuilding corporation,
declaring their action a protest
against a reduction in wages.
