Crete Liquor Vendors
Crete. Neb., July 28. (Specials-
Stale sheriffs visited Crete and ar
rested Floyd Forney of Dorchester,
who was fined for having too much
hooch in his possesion. He said
he got it of Mrs. August Rousscllc
who lives just east of'Crete. Her
husband was arrested a few weeks
ago upon a similar charge and fined
$100. The state officers called at
her home and arrested her, but no
Doozc was found.
she staled in court that she made
it and sold it. The judge fined her
$11X1.
Floyd Forney had been fined on
a similar charge in Lincoln the same
day.

Aurora "Y" May Be Sold
And Remodeled for Hotel
Aurora, Neb., July 28. (Special.)
Negotiations are pending which
may result in a new hotel for Aurora.
The Y. M. C. A. building may be sold
to a successful hotel man who will
remodel it into a modern hotel build
ing of 45 rooms. The building was
originally constructed as the home of
a business college. It is substantial
ly built and separated from all other
buildings and will make an excellent
hotel if modernized and equipped.

Many of the visitors who are
spending a part of the summer in
New York City appear to take great
interest in the steamship Levia
than. They frequently spend half
a day in crossing the Hudson to
Hoboken, so that they may get
near icw of this stupendous ocean
going vessel. They seem to be more
interested in her size than in the fact
that it is costing the government a
great deal of money to keep her in
good condition.
This steamship justifies the curios
ity which she has stimulated. It haj
some characteristics of the sentimen
tal and curious interest which the
first visit of the Great Eastern
caused in the United States. Some
of those who arc familiar with
steamship conditions wonder if the
Leviathan may not .-.hare the fate of
the Great Eastern. That steamship
was so enormous that it cost more
to operate her than the returns for
her freight made it possible to meet.
She was on the point of bring aban
doned as a commercial failure when
just at that time it was found ncc.es
sary to secure a large steamer ttj
aid in laying the Atlantic cable. Hut
service the Great Eastern performed
and after that was finished it was the
end of her.

put in service or salvaged, even sent to
scrap heap, will pas Into tradition as the
last of the enormous eteamers of which
the Great Eastern many years ago was the

are characteristic of the Leviathan. For
