Lawyers Here Hold Field Day in Honor of Judges The field day and golf tournament given each year by the Douglas County Bar association in honor of district court and supreme court judges started at noon yesterday with a luncheon at the Chamber of Commerce. About 300 lawyers and a dozen judges were present. Among whom were Judges Lctton, Dean, Flans burg, Day, Morissey, Tibbtts of the state supreme court at Lincoln. H. L. Stoddard, supreme court reporter, also was present. From the chamber the lawyers and their guests went to the Happy Hol low club, where golf was scheduled. Dinner was served at the clubhouse last night. Common Sense By J. J. MUNDY. Reaching the Goal. It is the natural spirit of tlfft American to shoot straight forward for the position lie wishes to reach. I here is bound to be displeasure and disappointment if anyone comes in the way of his realizing his aim and ambition. But who could exoect to make a bee-line for a goal and get there without an obstacle? It is better to get a clear under standing early in the game that everir worthy effort has its drawbacks, and you will have yours. Most all successful careers have attained their success by zig-zagging, not by "shooting." You may feel that advancement is too slow by this process, but that is where you are wrong. It is much better to equalize the strain as you go along rather than to pull out taut and break. Dont worry because your prog ress is not in a straight line. If you have worked conscientious ly and with all your thoughtful power, studying deeply, you have found that each zig-zag found you a little higher each time. Raz Barlow wrote himself a long letter today. In it he expressed the hope that it found him well and do ing well, and as soon as it reaches him he will reply to it.
