Common Sense
By J. J. MUNDY.
Home, Sweet Home.
You are certainly unfortunate in
disposition if a visit to the home of
one more well-to-do makes you dis
satisfied with your own home.
Your home is what you and the
others in the home make it.
A fine structure does no't make
home; costly furniture does not
make home.
If there is happiness in your
home, if there is real companionship
and helpfulness in your home, it is
beautiful if it consists merely of one
.or two rooms and the cheapest kind
of furnishings.
Home is where love, confidence,
trust and helpfulness abide.
Many a mansion cannot boast of
being a home in this truest sense.
Why should you make yourself
unhappy because you have not such
a pretentious home as certain
friends of yours?
If you are unhappy in the small
and modest home you would be un
happy no matter where you were or
how much money you Had.
Happiness is of the heart, and
where heartless persons dwell no
amount of money can make the spirit
of home. .1
Do not be so selfish that you rob
the other members of home and fire
side of their contentment because
you are ungratefully dissatisfied.

Amateurs Extend
Playing Schedule
Refuse to Play Twilight Games
Loops to Close Season
In August.
A "Twilight" game is ancient his
tory as far as the teams of the
American, Greater Omaha, Com
mercial and Gate City leagues are
concerned.
The teams in these circuits have
found it impossible to play the "twi
light" affairs and have asked for per
mission to play any postponed
games after the close of the season.
Permission was granted these
teams this morning to extend their
season two weeks. However, the
regular playing season is finished on
July 23 and 24 in these re jective
loops, but with the extension, the
seasons closes about the middle of
August ' ;
Secretary J. J. Isaacson announced
that no league games will b-. "layed
by the amateur teams, Monday, July
4. However, a number of the teams
will play exhibition games and sev
eral of them will journey out of
town to celebrate the fourth.
Four of the City league teams will
be seen in action at Fontenelle park
at the celebration July 4. In the
first game, the Bowen Furniture Co.
and the Drive-It-Yourselfs will clash
and the second game will be put
on by the Riggs Optical and North
Omaha Boosters.
Holland Withdraws
Protest; Daugherty
Refutes Decisions
When Guv CBunnv) Holland,
manager of the Townsend Gun Co.,
who orotested the same with the
Bowen Furniture Co. several weeks?
ago, withdrew his protest yesterday
afternoon against John Dennison's
crew, it was not necessary w ,noia
the meeting of the City league man-
.a a a.
agers, and tne saia meeting
scheduled for last night at tne cuy
hall was declared off by President
Frank Jacobs.
However. President Jacobs an
nounced that Manager Fred Daugh
erty of the Drive-It-Yourselfs, leaders
of the City league, who lost a IU to
7 game last Sunday to the Bowens,
has entered a protest on the grounds
of the umpire's decisions. A meet-
in ir of the managers may be held
sometime next week at which time
the argument will be thrashed out,
and a date set to play off the post
poned contests. .
Revise Church Card
President N. J. Weston of the
Church league announced yesterday
that the schedule in that loop for
Saturday has been revised in order
that the teams may play off their,
postponed games.
