Grading And co-operative market ing of ggs are making money for farmers in several Nebraska counties. Six cents a dozen, or a total of $885, were saved the farmers in Hamilton county during April and May. The county agricultural agent and farm bureau ass'Sted m collecting the eggs at a central point and there grading, packing ard shipping them. The eggs were graded for size, $hape,"weight, color and freshness. Many .produce dealers are paying a premium for the better eggs, and grading net only means more money ior the fanners, but it increases in terest in the production and market ing of a better product Otoe, Sew ard and several other counties have either established or are planning to establish co-operative grading and marketing systems. Neb., June 26.r(SpeciaL) The Pig club that was organized here last April by County Agent Dale now has 19 members between the ages of seven and 17. Three breeds of pigs are favorites, the Duroc-Jersey, Poland-China and Chester-White - . Members of the club began their work June 20. The pigs will be entered at the Loup Val ley fair. Many j farmers are predicting a wheat yield I of 30 bushels per acre, which is far above the average here. Corn is doing exceptionally well and there is the largest acreage of potatoes that I has ever been planted in the county. The alfalfa crop will be unusually , heaw and oastures are in excellent , condition. The wheat crop will be . harvested during July. Young Beatrice Men to Stand Trial This Week Beatrice, Neb., June 25. (Spe- i ciai) County Attorney Vasey an- j nounced yesterday that the hearing of Paul Geisler and Robert Newton, j charged with highway robbery in the holdup of Mr. and Mrs. George j Monroe in this city on the night of j June 4, and Cfiff Lockard, charged j with breaking and entering, would in all probability be. called in the' district court early this week. All three young men 'were bound over a few days ago, Geisler and Newton being held on $2,000 bond each and Lockard on $1,000 bond. . Sidney Masons Celebrate The Nativity of St. John Sidney, Neb, June 26. (Special Telegram.) The local Masons cele brated the nativity of St John the Baptist at, the; Episcopal church. Rev. Henry Ives, rector of the church, had charge of the service assisted by Rev. Peter Wellner of Scottsbluff. Seventy-five Masons and their wives attended the service After the service the ladies guild of the Episcopal church served a lunch eon on the church lawn. New JMail Route Alliance, Neb June 26. (Special) Beginning July 1, a new star mail roate w-ni e started from Alliance to Fowler, postal station 27 miles northwest of here, serving the patrons between the two towns. The route will be known as the rowier Colorado Springs, Colo., June 26. Facing an army of countless mil lions of migratory grasshoppers that are threatening crops in this section, more than 100 farmers began a sys tematic fight on the pests in the southeastern part of El Paso county. Just where the grasshopper army had its origin is not exactly known to the farmers, but it has spread . T V . - over a large section oi i-incoin, Crowley and Pueblo counties and is headed in a northwesterly direction, threatening to enter El Paso county from both east and south. J. C.Hale, county agent, and E. T. Haas, eovernment pest expert, with several truck loads of bran, poison, oranges and syrup, joined tbe farm ers today at Highland, Pueblo county, about three miles south of El Paso county. An organization has been perfected and a systematic plan of fighting the pests was made. The line oi attack against tne grasshoppers extends over a front of 30 or 40 miles. The farmers have been divided into teams with a cap tain at the head of each. Each team will cover one mile on the fighting line. White Pine Barred From State to Prevent Disease Lincoln, June 26.
