(Special.) Smart burglars operating in Ne braska in the future will be identi fied by the whiteness of their hands. For smart burglars will wear kid gloves. . Nielsen, head of the new state department of criminal identi fication. The first school of instruction for sheriffs from southeastern Nebraska was held today in Lincoln. The sheriffs were requested to send finger prints of all suspicious persons arrested in their counties to Nielsen and wire guaranteed that if Uncle Sam had their prints at the Leaven worth federal prison and Nielsen nan them at Lincoln the sheriffs would get the record of the man in short order. Methods of taking finger prints were demonstrated, cards for use in getting prints were distributed and other instructions. C. A. Dorr, assistant attorney gen- C. F.. Matson. countv attorney Lancaster county; Gus Hyers and T. Nic sen were among speakers who urged co-operation of all shir iffs with the state law enforcement bureau at Lincoln. ,morrow. - Attorney uenerai A. Davis, Hyers, Nielsen and others will conduct a similar school for sheriffs at Hastings. These schools will be held at central towns in van ous districts until every sheriff at tends, with little cost for transporta tion. Custer County Firemen , Complete Organization Broken Bow, Neb., June 17. (Spe cial.) Representatives from almost every town in the county met at the city hall to complete the orpanization of the Custer County Firemen's as sociation. C. J. Benson was made the permanent president; J, G. Leon aid, Broken Bow. secretary-treasur er; Judge N. D. Ford, Broken Bow, first vice president, and Ben Mills of Arnold, second vice president. I he object of the organization is to promote the interest and welfare of all fire companies. The first annual picnic will be held at Lake Ansley. August II. Man and Wife To Be Tried On Murder Charge in August O'Neill, Neb., June 17. (Special.) -Rolla and Delia Dehart, man and wife now in jail here charged with the murder of John Mize of Platte, S. D., whose body was found in the Niobrara river north of Atkin son several weeks ago, probably will tried at a special term of dis trict court the first or second week in August, according to announce ment of District Judge Robert R. Dickson. The court has announced the appointment of former District Judge J. J. Harrington to assist the county attorney in the prosecution of the charges against the couple. Gets $2,825 Compensation Cozad, Neb., June 17. (Special. ) Vincent Dunn received $2,825 this week from the state as compensation for the loss of his right hand while in the employ of the state Divorce Enters Duke and Biddle Family Circles Suit Filed Aeainst Son of "Tobacco King" Cloaked in Mystery Both Are Wealthy. Chlrkf Trlhnof-Omh Bm Iard Wire, Philadelphia, Pa., June 17. Mrs, Angier Buchanan Duke, daughter of Major and Mrs. Anthony J. Drexel Biddle of this city, has brought suit for divorce against Angier Buchanan Duke of New York. A libel action, with the legal grounds for the action, cloaked in mystery, was filed today. The suit, a matter of gossip in social circles of this city and New York for months, was forecast by the separation of the pair in December, 1919. three years and a halt alter marriage, tnorts were mauc ay friends to effect a reconciliation. There were conferences of lawyers and finally by the parents. Admissions then were made that a divorce action was pending. But the grounds on which it was to be based were as zealously guarded as they are today. A year after Miss Biddle became the bride of Mr. Duke, Capt. A. J. Drexel Biddle, jr., married Miss Mary Duke, sister of Angier B. Duke in the sum mer of 1916. Mr. and Mrs. Angier Duke have two children, Angier, jr., and An thpny Drexel Biddle Duke, The chil dren are with the mother. Mr. Duke is a son of Benjamin B. Duke, known as the "tobacco king" and one of the wealthiest men in the United States. He possessed $10, 000,000 in his own right and is a prospective heir of a $50,000,000 es tate. Governor and Fish Chief Leave on Trip Lincoln, June 17. (Special.) Governor S. R. McKelvie and George Koster, chief of the game and fish division of the state, left today for Niobrara and other towns in northern Nebraska. They will ride in the state fish car. Trout from the state fish hatchery at Gretna will be distributed at the various towns. 'The governor will spend the first of next week with George Johnson, secretary of the department of pub lic works, in looking over two road propositions in Rock, Keya Paha and Brown counties over which an altercation has arisen. He will speak at two community picnics at Allen and Wakefield Wednesday and Thursday he will meet Gus Fryers, state sheriff, at. Norfolk, where he will address a meeting of sheriffs. Illiteracy of Young Men Disgrace, Pershing Says Seagirt, N. J., June 17. General Pershing told National guard officers and men at Camp Edwards today that the illiteracy of the young man hood of the country was a disgrace and he hoped the nation would never again have to pass through such an experience with untrained minds and bodies as it did in the last war.
