"Joh8 Daughters" Will Organize iu Alliance Alliance, Neb., June 8. (Special.) Plans for organizing an Alliance chapter of the new order of "Job's Daughters," a girls' organization sim ilar to the Order of De Molay for boys, .both of which are associated with the Masonic and Eastern Star orders, have been completed by the local chapter of the Eastern Star. The Alliance chapter will be the third order to be organized, the first having recently been launched in Omaha with a membership of 150, and the second in Grand Island. Only girls between the ages of 13 and 18, who have a relative who is a member of the Masonic order or the Eastern Star, membership. Applications have been received from more than JO Alliance girls. A special six months' dispen sation will be obtained from the Omaha chapter, at the end of which time a charter will be granted. Nomina tions for the seven vacant places on the shipping board finally were sent to the senate today by President Harding. Failing in a three-months' search for a man of practical shipping ex perience toJicad the board, the presi dent gave the chairmanship -to A. D. 1 asker, a Chicago advertising man, who accepted with a pledge to place the board on a sound business basis and to seek advice of shipping men generally. Three other republicans, E. C. Tluuimcr of Maine, T. V. O'Connor of New York and Meyer Lissner of California, and three democrats, for mer Senator G. E. Chamberlain of Oregon, F. I. Thompson of Alabama and Rear Admiral W. S. Benson, U. S, N,, retired, were nominated for the other places. Admiral Benson, now serving as board chairman un der an appointment of President Wilson, 'becomes junior member, having been named for only one year, while the terms of the others range up to six. The total actual valuation of Box Butte county real estate and per sonal property is $15,603,874, ac cording to an estimate submitted by County Assessor John Pilkington. Real estate is listed at $11,413,615 and personal property at $4,391,239. These figures represent the valuation after deducting 15 per cent from the actual valuation of farm lands, wliirh rednrtinn' was rpppntlv granted by the state tax commis sioner, and $200,000 deduction on household goods as provided by law. The actual valuation of Alliance real estate ' is given as $2,699,600 and personal property as $2,102,992, making a total of $4,712,592.
